Key phrases to listen for“My manager has asked me to organise an event…”
“I want to engage with my customers more…”
“I ran a training course last week but very few people turned up…”
“I want to stand out from my competitors…”
“I want to be different…”
“I was President of the Assassins Society for two years and the Games Society for one, and during all this time Becky was Social Secretary of the same societies. This position put her in charge of running a large variety of different and quite challenging events, ranging from simple barcrawls all the way up to quite complex gaming events, at least once a week.
“She single-handedly arranged an weekend’s entertainment for about 60 visiting Assassins players from other universities, and once per term coordinated a fantastic larger event between about half a dozen different societies.
“After she graduated, she worked for my company Through A Game Backwards for 3 months, organising fortnightly deep games and roleplaying events, coordinating with players, and ensuring things ran smoothly and everyone had fun.
“Throughout all of this, Becky's events were consistently excellent and enjoyed by all. She's left a lasting impression on how these groups run their events, as subsequent social secretaries have largely adopted the structures and methods she used. She is always willing to lend her expertise to those running society events to this day.
“Becky is an energetic and enthusiastic person, able to confidently direct proceedings, but also able to step back and allow people to do their own thing. I think she is ideally suited to the world of events planning, and wish her the best of luck!”
