“He is a bug freak!” Alexander says of Leal. The latter relishes the chance to hunt for rare bug species, and keeps a collection of mounted insects at the couple’s Denver apartment.
“I tried to get him into the whole photography, video and fashion thing,” Alexander says. “But it just wasn’t his thing. Now he’s been trying to get me into the insect stuff, which I kind-of like…”
“We’re so different that at the end of the day, we complement each other.”
Many of the fashion-industry people who work with Alexander find that his photography compliments them.compliments them.
“Kevin is a great person,” says Diana Gormley, modeling division director at Denver’s Donna Baldwin Agency and co-owner of Revolution Management. “(He is) kind, exciting and passionate with huge potential and a bright future.”
Gormley has a longstanding professional relationship with Alexander because, she says, he constantly strives to be creative and cutting edge. Commitment, she adds, sets Alexander apart constantly strives to be creative and cutting edge. Commitment, she adds, sets Alexander apart from other photographers. “He is always trying new things and continuing to grow and do more.”
Los Angeles modeling industry executive Marcia Rothschild Moellers notes Alexander’s profession-alism. He learns quickly, and moves with the trends.
“(Kevin) is a really nice guy who likes to help people,” says Moellers, scouting director for Bravo Models. “He’s just a great guy to deal with.”

BEAUTY UNDERGROUNDUNDERGROUNDARTISTIra Pope Sage
Sage continues to expand his brand, thanks in large part to the endless audience served up by contemporary social media.
Through various online platforms but most especially photo-driven Instagram, Sage strikes the winning, elusive balance between flaunting his professional chops while illuminating his silver-tongued, fun-loving persona.
“If it weren’t for social media, there’s no way that I could have (started my own business),” he says. “I use it as much as I can.”
That means posting on-stage, hair-show rock star action shots where Sage and his experimental fashions are as much a part of the experience as his edgy cutting techniques, alongside up-dates from his periodic “crunch challenges,” and party pics from whatever concert or club grabbed the man’s attention on a given day.
“He is very charismatic, very charming and really funny,” says longtime friend and hair model Sophia Ignadiou. “He always likes to make people laugh.”
But no matter how much Sage jokes with clients, fools around with friends, or shocks social media followers with his latest personal style transformation, Ignadiou says there is one domi-nant characteristic that people always notice about this guy: His dedication to cutting, and his palpable talent.
“I’ve had my hair done by him on numerous occasions,” says Ignadiou, a 28-year-old dancer and student. “I always go in with an idea of what I want, and he always takes it to another level and makes it 10 times better than what I wanted.”
While working for Paul Mitchell, Sage became "besties" with international salon star D.J. Muldoon, who spent eight years with that company as haircutting director. Now Muldoon, whom Sage lov-ingly refers to as "Geeza" after the British slang for a street-smart old man, also runs his own education company called theFactory (thefactoryhair.com) out of San Diego.
"Ira brings an originality to the industry," Muldoon says. "He is a true innovator when it comes to his art and craft."
But Muldoon's accolades go beyond the chair to the heart of a salon-world creative who can now count thousands of social media followers among his fans.
"(Ira) is one of the most selfless people I know and will do just about anything for anyone in need," Muldoon concludes. "But most of all, he brings joy and laughter to many, including myself."
