    Written by Dr. Ibrahim Dremali

Assalamu Alaikum my dear brothers and sisters,

The above Ayah from Surat al-Hujurat explains to us who ALLAH SWT

honors most. Imagine that through having Taqwa, we can be recognized

by Allah SWT as one of the noble and honored ones. This type of honor

radiates not only as light and nobility, but as love and beauty in front ofAllah. How fulfilling it is to know that our strive, our fear, our good deeds,

and our obedience to HIM in secret and in public can earn us a status as

great as this. Now imagine, that WE, as an entire UMMAH, unite with this

same common goal: to strive for Him, to fear Him, to do good for Him, and

to obey Him the way He told us to. Imagine what kind of status that our

UMMAH will have? Surely we would be an honored and beautiful Ummah.

Surat al-Hujurat is a very special Surah, and outlines various ways for us toachieve this status. I will write briefly about some of these points, or

foundations for a strong Ummah. By correcting ourselves first, by having

Taqwa in everything that we do, will we then be a strong and noble nation.

If each person works hard on applying these foundations, the communities

will start to strengthen and then our entire UMMAH will shine with honor

and beauty. I have a strong vision and a lot of faith that we can achieve

this together. Let us be that honored and beautiful UMMAH, who UNITESunder the banner of La ilaha illah Allah. Let us be the UMMAH that strives

to be the most beautiful in front of Allah. This is our UMMAH, the UMMAH

of Prophet Mohammed (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam), and the UMMAH that

Allah SWT praises when HE says You are the best nation created for mankind.

Together, lets strive to live up to this high and honorable status.

Allah is speaking to US when He says O you

who BELIEVE. We should pay extra special

attention when He address the believers.

Through the Prophet, ALLAH SWT has given us

guidelines and taught us everything we need

to know in order to worship Him in the best

    way.

Allah perfected and completed our religion of

Islam and Prophet Mohammed is the best

example for us to follow. There is nothing we

can do or say that will ever improve their

words. Are we submitting ourselves to this

fact? Is all of our Ibadah in accordance with

Quran and Sunnah, or are we following our

    own desires?

O you who believe! Do not put yourselves forward

before Allah and His Messenger, and fear Allah.

    Verily, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing! (49:1)

Both the Quran and Sunnah are a done deal and you cannot add

to it, take away from it, or change it in the least way.

O you who believe! Raise not your voices above the

voice of the Prophet, nor speak loud to him in speechas you speak loud to one another, lest your deeds may

become fruitless while you perceive not. (49:2)

How can we raise our voices above the voice of

the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam), if he is

no longer alive? How do we apply this Ayah in

    our lives today?

The Prophets (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) voice remains with us

through his words, his advice and through his actions. His voice

is with us now through his Sunnah, which he left for us so that

we may be guided. This is a special gift that should becherished, and we should not try to alter the Sunnah in any way.

Allah SWT orders us to obey Him and His messenger in all

matters. This command is a perfect command from Allah and is

good for all times and all circumstances.

Allah tells us that if we submit ourselves and

our actions to the Prophets words, that it is in

fact those hearts that have been tested forTAQWA. SubhanAllah!

Sometimes cultural or other influences find

their way into our acts of Ibadah. We should

beware of this and be very careful not to fall

into habits and rituals that are not from the

    Prophets traditions.

Verily! Those who lower their voices in the presence

of Allahs Messenger, they are the ones whose heartsAllah has tested for TAQWA (piety). For them is

forgiveness and a great reward. (49:3)

If efforts are made to counter these habitual actions, with the

intention of wanting to gain TAQWA by obeying Allah and His

messenger, ALLAH SWT promises forgiveness and a great

    reward!

We must be keen to protect and safeguard thehonor of a Muslim. Acts such as backbiting,

slandering and defaming are all diseases of the

heart and are destroying the Ummah.

O you who believe! Let not a group scoff at another group,it may be that the latter are better than the former; nor let

(some) women scoff at other women, it may be that thelatter are better than the former, nor defame one another,

nor insult one another by nicknames. How bad is it, to insultones brother after having Faith. And whoever does not

repent, then such are indeed wrong-doers. (49:11)

Dont fall into these dangerous acts, which only destroys your

good deeds, destroys the Ummah, and causes Allahs anger. A

Muslims honor is SACRED to ALLAH. He will wage war against

anyone who defames a close servant of His.

If someone wrongs you, leave it to Allah. Focus on your own

deeds. Guard your tongue, your Deen, and your Taqwa, and

InshaAllah your inner beauty will radiate as one of the most

    honored servants of Allah SWT.
