The Marbletucky Inn, opening thissummer at 189 South Bridge Road,Marblehead, will be bringing a newand yet amiliar dining and entertain-ment experience to Ottawa County.

The tradition o island ood, wheth-er on the southern or the northerncoast, is ood that makes you eelgood, like you are coming home toGrandmas house, says manager andco-owner Kelsey Rider-Bell.

Kelsey and her husband Brian Belland Kelseys ather Bruce Rider arethe owners and ches o The Marble-tucky Inn. I have been cooking withmy dad since I could look on thestove, and I love it. It is time or himto retire and we want to do some-thing together.

Bruce Rider, born and raised onCatawba Island, is trying to create alegacy or my daughter. Ater mili-tary service, Rider lived in Kentucky,

Puerto Rico and South Carolina be-ore returning to his native northcoast.

Rider will be the pit-master or theslow-smoked barbecued pork thatwill be the centerpiece o the Marble-tucky Inns menu. The Carolina-stlyevinegar-based barbecue sauce meltsthe at rom the pork and breaksdown and tenderizes the meat, saysRider. The custom-built cooker wasset to arrive this past week.

Rider is also a talented musician, and has already booked several namegroups or the stage that will be theocal point o the Inn.

Kelsey and Brian, both DanburyHigh School graduates, were mar-ried on the beach on Catawba. Kelseyhas a degree in marketing and man-agement rom Tin University andBrian has a painting business.

The vision o the Inn is to speak toall the senses, and to showcase every-

ones gits, those o the musicians, the cooks, the mural artist and thepurveyors. The sound level or theblues, bluegrass and rockabilly musicwill be such that people can still haveconversations, and all patrons willhave a seat so that they can better en-

joy the music and the ood. The oodwill be home-cooking and wheneverpossible home-grown, using produceand meats rom local providers.

As to the name, The MarbletuckyInn, It is a name that honors theroots o this area o Marblehead ando Kentucky, said Kelsey. We wantto do our part to build up this com-munity.

The Marbletucky Inn will be openin June and at least until November,Thursday through Saturday and hala day on Sunday, rom 11 a.m untilmidnight. For more inormation goto www.marbletuckyinn.com or ol-low on acebook.

    Easter Egg SaturdayBY DONNA LUEKE

On Saturday morning thousandso pastel plastic eggs were scatteredover the lawns, parks and groundso Ottawa County. By mid-ater-noon, most had been harvested bytreasurer-seeking children.

In Port Clinton at 10 a.m. over 250basket and bucket toting young-sters and their entourages annedout across the courthouse lawn. In

a matter o minutes, the lawn wasswept clean, and lines gathered orphotos with and additional treatsrom the Easter Bunny. As a bo-nus, the re truck that brought theBunny was available or climbing

on and in. The hunt was sponsoredby the Port Clinton Recreation De-partment.

By 1 p.m. at James Park in Marble-head the welcome sun had warmedthe air and earth enough that the egghunters there were not encumberedby heavy coats. The entire park wasstrewn with eggs, courtesy o theEaster Bunny and helpers rom theMarblehead Fire Department. Not

only did the children gather manytreasures, but they had the bonuso the exercise o running the park

grounds rom egg to egg. The Eas-ter Bunny arrived by re truckand posed or photos in the shel-ter house. Fire-truck climbing wasagain a popular event.

At East Harbor at 2 p.m. the EasterBunny and helpers rom Friends oEast Harbor Park clustered aroundthe shelter house at the camp-ground beore beginning their egghunt. It was observed that the Easter

Bunny was uzzier at East Harbor.Perhaps he/she was razzled rom ahectic day o public appearances.

Galleries from all three Easter egghunts are online at thebeacon.net.

Dr. Joseph Darr of Port Clinton, was among a selectgroup of doctors of chiropractic from around the worldinvited to participate in the 21st Annual Symposium onNatural Fitness held February 28March 2 in Columbus.Held annually in conjunction with the Arnold Schwar-zenegger Sports Festival, this event welcomed hundredsof doctors of chiropractic, students and friends fromaround the world. Sponsored by the Council on Fitnessand Sports Health Science of the International Chiroprac-tors Association, this event celebrated its 21st Anniversary

this year.Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger again highlighted

the 2013 ICA chiropractic conference with his personalappearance before the packed Symposium audience. Astrong advocate of chiropractic care for people of all ages,Governor Schwarzenegger shared his thoughts about theimportance of chiropractic care and his appreciation of itsability to help people on many levels, stressing the impor-

tance of chiropractic as a signicant means of preven-tion and its preventative function as a key componentof all health care programs, both public and private.Governor Schwarzenegger spoke about his observationsand experiences with chiropractics value from the po-dium, telling the audience:

I really appreciate the chiropractic profession becauseyou are out in the community taking care of patients ofall ages, naturally and with great skill. I myself have al-ways been out there campaigning and talking well about

chiropractic. Weve got to let the people know that thereis a necessity, its not even an option, its a necessity tohave a chiropractor. As much as it is a necessity to havea dentist, if you have a dentist for the family, you shouldhave your chiropractor for your family.

Governor Schwarzenegger also spoke about his ownpersonal experience with chiropractic, recognizing thecare he received throughout the years in relation to

his success in champion-ship bodybuilding andfor his ability to maintainsuch a rigorous public ser-vice, travel and appearanceschedule. He commentedon developments in healthcare, the need to includeprevention and the contri-

butions chiropractic caremakes to that key elementin health care:

Prevention, its all aboutprevention. I have seen itover the years, over the 40

years since Dr. Franco Co-lumbu, my dear friend be-came a chiropractor, andhow this has helped ourfamily, how many times hehas saved the day in ourfamily. So we know the val-ue. We talk about it all thetime. Every seminar thatI do about exercising andtraining, weight resistance

training, good nutrition, Italk about the importanceof chiropractic.

Commenting on the im-portance of including in-centives for healthy livingand prevention in all health

care programs and linking the chiropractic profession tothe benets of health and prevention, he noted,

We know it (prevention) works. And we know that you(chiropractors) are in the right profession. Because youare really in a profession that saves people money, and itbrings the health care cost down. This is what I love about

your profession. You are the most incredible profession,

you always help people. This years Symposium program included a special pre-

sentation by Olympic champion and coach for the USOlympic Water Polo team, Dr. Terry Schroeder, who spokeeloquently about many aspects of chiropractics clinicalefcacy in enhancing sports performance and managinginjury prevention and injury recovery, and also shared in-sights about his personal experience with chiropractic andsports performance.

The ICA Natural Fitness Symposium focuses on theclose relationship between tness and health, and bringstogether the worlds of athletic competition, exercise andtness, and chiropractic science to educate all participantson the value of natural health through exercise.

In 2012, the Danbury Lakers baseball team had a 12- 12record, 5-7 in the TAAC.

The Lakers lost six seniors to graduation, John Bunce,Branden Burke, Dalton Chapman, Caleb Helline, LucasKennedy and Cory Schenk. This group left their mark onthe program, being the class with the greatest numbers ofwins (49) over their high school careers.

The top returning lettermen for the Lakers are seniorpitcher Zach Kalinoski, a 3-year letterman, and pitcher/shortstop sophomore letterman Chase Botson. Promis-ing underclassmen are sophomores Mike Stys, catcher/pitcher; Alec Calton, 1st/pitcher; Jack Tyson, 2nd/pitcher;and freshman Austin Buchanan, shortstop/pitcher.

The Lakers 2013 squad is young but energetic. The2013 teams strengths include coach-ability & team ca-maraderie, according to coach Adam Steinbrick. TheLakers need to learn in a hurry and most of all show con-tinuous improvement throughout the year.

The projected starting line-up could include as many as

six sophomores and a freshman. Ottawa Hills and North-wood will be favorites in conference play once again.

In addition to head coach Adam Steinbrick, the Lakerscoaching staff includes Bryan Dudash, Jeff Corbin andMike Limberios.
