Letters to the Editor

Brfe rfunjon 92

I wish to report on a very unique andenjoyable gathering at Work Point

Barracks on the weekend Of 31 July1992 when members Of the 1 st Batta.lion Bugles got together for a celebra-

tion.

The organking committee Of Fred andJanice Mercei, Harold arid MymaDrinkwalter, Tim and Joanne Ogiivie

and Jim Hicke did a splendid job of

spreadingthewordandarrangingthe

program for the day and a half in-volved.

106 happy people sat down to a greatmeal at the final dinner. Some light-

hearted but sincere banter filled theroom and i3emember when. . ." was

probably the most off heard sound. Those who had a hand in putting to-

gether or supporting the reunion wererecognieed and vigorously agreed thata similar event should be held againand probably, the next time, in Cal-

gary.

What was I doing at a Bugles reunion

never having pirt lipe to a horn or hand

to a stick? When asked when I was inthe Band-and had to answer-NEVEF\! It seemed log.ical that

SOMEONE who had tried to keepstep "lo those many years" should be

present to represent `The Musical Ap.preciation Society Of Riflemen".

Marianne and I had a really supertime among dd friends and good com.rades and we lcok forward to the nextone (even if I have to take Bugle-Majorlessonstoqualfty).

Plegimerttally,

I wore ny green beret with our Pegi-mental cap badge so those attendingwould real2e that I was a proud mem-ber Of The Queen's Own Plifles Of

RernernbdingComrades

There is a shortage Of news from uphere I.n the boondcok§. Aboift all thathappens is the demise Of yet another

QOR comrade, in this instance, WITMercer.

The Orillfa Legion Branch atways en-

sures that funerals are conducted intrue Legion fashion following all the

rites and customs. In addition, whenev-

er a QOR comrade passes away thetrio Of "Ponr Cairns, Terry "Red" Gor-don and I visit that funeral parlour in

Regimental blazer, green beret, etc. toletthefamilyknowthatthePegimentdoes nct forget its own. It is believedthatthefaniilyreallyapprecialestheRegimental connection which is not al-ways fully understood by the de-ceasedveteran'sfamjly.

Again I regret that I cannot report anynews except deaths, but undl some-thing Of note occurs I will close with

the request that you, the lifeline Of

F]egimertal news, continue your goodwork in keeping us informed
