Running her opponent more than 5,000 votes,

she became the very 1st Lady Mayor of Carmen,

Bohol.

she was the first born of

Eulalia Asotigue and

Ricardo Toribio, Sr., only older of several minutes

from her twin sister Angelita Toribio

“Che-che” as her family fondly called her

was born on

October 2, 1960 and raised in a small town,

Poblacion Sur, Carmen, Bohol

Dimpna, Areopaguita, Ricardo Jr., Virgina and the youngest was Reinero Toribio

And have 5 more younger siblings

The Asotigue – Toribio clan were not a member of any wealthy family

Mother, Eulalia “Nene” was a hosipital cook

And father Ricardo “Cardo” was a post man.

Just like the typical child she was sent to a public school for her primary education

and enter St. Anthony Academy as her secondary school.

Seeing her family with

she was shaped to be

And started cultivating

a limited source of revenue

independent

dreams

to uplift their living.

In 1977 she went to Manila

stayed at one of her relatives in Bacoor, Cavite

to attend college at Adamson University.

A twist of event happen to her life

She did not finished college

Got married at an early age

The hard working mom

and obtain a house of their own.

Che was able to establish a furniture appliance center

at Zapote, Bacoor

forcing Che to send her 5 children to Carmen, Bohol in the care of

“Mama Ne”.

But eventually the business didn’t turn out

well

She engaged in many different business ventures

Like real Estate

And even selling mineral water in front o the NSO

Quezon City office in order to sustain the

needs of her children.

She endure the pain on not seeing her children often, since she stayed in Manila most of the time

With all the

hardship during those days she kept

her faith intact.

By the year 2002, Che received many award and recognition being one of the

top Division Manager of PhilAm Plans.

A working mom turned politician

With a handful of duties and responsibilities both to her family, business and charitable works, entering politics was not her option

But then she saw the need of her town for good governance.

Alhough she knew that her local popularity would be harshly criticized, she was optimistic

to continue her candidacy, another turning point in her life

Equipped with determination, honest heart and divine protection, she won the Mayoral Election

2010.

Her crusades for enriching Carmen are having just begun.
