2014 Meetings• The 2013 Annual Meeting was

held October 24, 2013• BCSCW Board of Directors

meets each month on the second Monday.

2015 Board Elections

Each Director shall hold office for a two-year term with approximately 1/2 of the Directors elected each year in staggered terms. Maximum 11 Board Members.

Each member attending the Annual Meeting for election of the Board of Directors is eligible to cast one vote.

The candidates receiving the highest number of votes up to the number of directors to be elected shall be elected. Five seats are open this year.

• Facebook Engagement: Likes: 381 – up 25% from 2013• Participated in the National Parenting Expo at Monona

Terrace March 23, 2014• Representatives from BCSCW attended the Wisconsin

Breastfeeding Coalition Summit June 13, 2014 in Plover.

• Laura and Allie will attend a dayl-ong training 10/22 with Fran Butterfoss, national expert, on coalition development ‘Coalitions Work” in preparation for future strategic planning.

• Financial sponsor for the showing of “Breastmilk: the Movie” on July 31, the showing of which was a fundraiser for the Mothers Milk Bank of Western Great

• $500 donation in support of Full Circle Doula training to train women of color.

• Subsidized two registrations in the BF Champion training to help prepare 2 peer support mentors within the African American BF Alliance.

• Fiscal sponsor for Dane Birth Coalition

for Bereaved Mothers

• Helps pay for the cost of a pump for mothers who have lost a baby and would like to remember the baby through donations of breastmilk.

• $5 can be added to membership to help support this program.

• Donations can also be made online through the BCSCW website.

• 16-hour curriculum offered over 2 Saturdays (Sept 13 & Sept. 27)

• Training for office nurses to perform optimal breastfeeding telephone triage and basic in-person breastfeeding support.

• Breastfeeding triage tools that are easily adapted for electronic medical record systems.

• Members continue to take part in the Newborn Nursery Committee at St. Mary’s hospital as it works toward becoming Baby-Friendly.

• Board members Ildi Martonffy and Anne Eglash continue to give regular lectures to the UW Family Medicine residents and NP students.

• Dr. Martonffy gave a Primary Care Conference talk at St. Mary’s on 4/16/14 focusing on medications in lactation.

• Michele Lorenz Malloy is working on a letter regarding radiology and medications to be distributed to health care facilities in the area in response to some incorrect information that patients have been told regarding the need to interrupt nursing after having studies done.
