Be part of the Big Society Barnet Community Project’s Mobile Skate Park The Project A mobile skate park for young people who feel there is nothing for them in their local community. An exciting project, devised, planned and developed by young people. Providing a great opportunity for young people to develop transferable and employable business skills . The Skate Park The equipment will be designed and built by Highline Extreme ‐ with halfpipes, jump ramps, grind rails and interchangeable ramps. The equipment can be used on any surface from grass to concrete to indoor halls. The skatepark fits into a box trailer so that we can tow it to different venues. Extra skate boards, helmets and knee pads are provided so that young people using it do not need to have their own equipment. For more information and testimonials see www.highlineextreme.co.uk Skate Park sessions • We will run weekly after school sessions in the Underhill area • Longer days during the holidays • Blocks of 8 weekly sessions will be available for other areas in need of youth activities within the London Borough of Barnet Your involvement How can you help? We are asking for support for the initial purchase of equipment. It will cost £25k in total and we have raised £10k so far through applications to the Youth Opportunity Fund and to Barnet Homes. So we are asking our friends in the local business community if they would like to partner with us in this project. We are looking for 30 one off donations of £500 which will allow us to buy the equipment we need. Though if you would like to offer us more… We are also looking for on‐going support to cover the running costs, as there will be no charge for sessions to local residents or young people. Although the skate park will be run on a business model, it is a not for profit project. In time we hope to generate some income to cover cost of sessional workers. But the principle is that sessions should be affordable or free.
