the 2016 STAAR exam. Note the pros/cons of each essay and gather ideas for what a good essay should look and sound like.

Note to students and families: Tutorials matter! Please take advantage of the remaining tutorial days to ensure that your student is ready for the test on March 28th.
This Week in ELA-R with Ms. Davis & Ms. Yap
Note to Students & Parent Guardians All students will be given a copy of The Outsiders to borrow. Students are expected to return the novel back to their teacher at the end of the unit. Failure to return book will result in a $20.00 fine. If a student loses his/her book, he/she may also replace that copy and forgo the $20.00 fine. Each student has been given a reading calendar. Students are expected to keep up with their readings, in addition to completing their daily homework (dialectical journals and study guide questions). Students will also be given a daily reading quiz over the previous night’s readings.

This Week in the Math Lab w/Ms. Kerawala Classwork this Week: TSW complete individualized topics, assignments, earn their piece of the pie, and take quizzes in www.Aleks.com program. Students have approximately an hour in class daily to work on weekly topic and time assignments. Anything not completed in class will be expected to be completed at home.
Topic of the Week: Due to the nature of the program and built in extended deadline with multiple attempts, the program will not allow extension for assignments past the due dates. These assignments must be done in a timely manner. Student are expected to 1) work at least two hours and 2) complete at least 8 topics for this week.

All quiz and tests are done on the ALEKS program in class. Every student is given the opportunity to look at worked examples during a quiz/test and a chance to make corrections at least once on ALL quizzes and tests during the allotted class time. Weekly Focus: On a daily basis, students will continue to review skills needed for success in 7th grade math. We will continue to work on STAAR math Test.

This Week in Scientific Decision Making w/ Mr. Rasti & Mr. Wertz
Week of March 6th – March 10th
Monday, March 6th & Tuesday, March, 7th The students will finish their final drafts of their P.S.A. project that provides preventive information that they have learned about Malaria.
Do Now: we will review the 1st test of this six weeks covering Infectious Diseases to check for clarity. The students will finish their Malaria P.S.A. prevention pamphlets.
o Homework: Choose the rare disease they will write a report and create a P.S.A over. Wednesday, March 8 & Thursday March 9th The students will complete the Marfan Syndrome Lab , and will demonstrate the genetic factors that are involved with contracting this rare hereditary disease.
Do Now: complete An Inventory of a few Human Traits . We will compare variations of genetic traits, and the pros and cons that can arise. The students will complete the Marfan Syndrome Lab .
o Homework: bring in outline for the report portion of their rare disease P.S.A. Friday, March 10th The students will complete immunity breakdown activity over the rare disease that they have chosen for their report and P.S.A.

Computer Science 7th Grade Learning Objective:
Students will read and edit JavaScript code. Students will use and recognize comments,

Vocabulary: Comment: a special line of code that start with
two forward slashes (ie: //This is a comment); Coders use comments to remind themselves and others what a section or line of code means. When the computer runs code it will ignore all comments.

Function: acts as a verb in JavaScript; It is used to perform an action or set of actions with a single line of code.

Ongoing Extra-Credit: Students who volunteer to turn packet activities into Kahoot! quizzes and storyboards will
receive a 100 for a project grade if done to satisfactory!
