This month at the Balmoral Early Learning Centre It has been a fantastic start to my new role as the Balmoral Early Learning Centre Team Leader. I have three brilliant colleagues and an exceptional student that have welcomed me into the team and have assisted me when needed. The Bush Nursing Centre staff have all been just as friendly and welcoming making me feel at home right away. Thanks ladies! Now, for the main reason I am here, the children! The children and staff have all been working together to change the room around every couple of weeks. The children are enjoying all the different experiences; the moon sand, slime and puff paintings have been favourites the past few weeks along with open-ended craft activities, the “under the sea” theme area and the indoor ball pit. The children have been participating in ‘progressive group time’ after morning tea each week. They may listen to a story together and discuss their ideas, thoughts and opinions in a group. The theme in the centre currently is ‘Winter’, the children have all been discussing the seasons, the weather and what winter means. A special thank you to the Vansomeren family for providing the ingredients for the children to make slime! We welcome all family contributions and it is great to see the families, staff and children working collaboratively. The Balmoral Early Learning Centre is very close to opening a third day of care for the community. Unfortunately, there are still a few vacancies. If you are interested or have any questions about our third day of care please call us on 03 5570 1304 or 0448 980 027. If you have a complaint, compliment, suggeson or concern we urge you to let us know. Forms are available at the Centre or alternavely phone the Centre on 5570 1304. The Bush Nursing Centre is a not for profit incorporated organisation. We receive an allocation of State Government funding that allows for a range of flexible core services to be provided. As clients become more complex, hospital stays shorter in duration and the range of services that can be provided close to the clients home continues to expand, we rely on a sound business model and community generosity to ensure we can keep doing what we do. Post Acute Care services offered by referring public hospitals will fund us to deliver nursing and support service care during the immediate post hospital period. It is important that clients being discharged back to our community say yes to Post Acute Care. This allows us to allocate the additional nursing hours required to ensure you receive the best care possible. It is membership time and regular members of the service should have received your renewal in the mail by now. We are very grateful for those that have paid their membership promptly and extra special thanks for the many kind donations we have received so far. Donations make a world of difference as we have limited access to grant opportunities for capital through the Department of Health. I would like to particularly thank the Balmoral Opportunity Shop ladies for their kind donation of $5440.00 all to be used to replace depreciated equipment and provide a new procedure light for our treatment area. Thank you very much . Lisa Hutchins Centre Manager
