Overview

Rationale: Demonstrate a procedure, get students thinking about material ahead of time, provide review material, putting together concepts

Method: Dissection footage (Flip), still images, Camtasia©, post in Blackboard

Challenges: Video quality, obtaining enough footage, long loading times, tracking & evaluation of learning outcomes

Student Use

Student Comments “What did you like best about the videos?”

• "They were an excellent guide to the locations and explanations of nerves, vessels and even clinical relevancy”

• "They help to clarify the ‘hard to identify’ structures; they help to reinforce what we have dissected in the lab”

• “They thoroughly explain structures, as well as giving additional information that correlates with the lecture material, while applying it to lab”

Some Comments: Suggestions

• "Probably somehow making us watch the lab videos BEFORE we go to lab so that we know exactly what we are looking for … possibly post a short quiz before the day of lab?”

• "If they were more organized into folders with specific parts shown. Sometimes it was hard to find a video with the structure I was looking for"

Staff Concerns

AWARE OF FACULTY PREFERENCES• No Vodcasts• Not downloadable• Editing extraneous conversation• Last minute changes class (recording) schedule

RELEASES • Guest speakers

AUDIO• “Don’t need a microphone, I’m loud enough”

TECHNICAL COMPLEXITIES• Job aids/documentation to keep track of it all
