Poverty among people Poverty has long been a major problems in the world. Many

around the world are living in poverty, they are unable to afford basic human needs, which commonly includes clean and fresh water, nutrition, health care, education, clothing and shelter

Though this venture, we manage to research on poverty among people around the world and organizations that step out to help others through social ventures such as the Child Poverty Action Group(CPAG).

Things we have researched

• What a social entrepreneur is, what he/she does and some of his/her aims.

• The difficult conditions faced by people living under poverty in the world.

• Organizations that step out to help others though social venture (CPAG)

• What we can do as students to help those in poverty?

What is a social entrepreneur and what he does?

• They are a group of people who want to serve the community

• Bring about a better life for the poor, further social and environmental goals.

• Inspired to organize, create and manage a venture to achieve social change.

Risks taken by them

• Companies often risk large sums of money to create, market and distribute new technology.

• Investors and shareholders expect managers to generate healthy profits.

• But market pressures produce an environment in which those who most need certain types of technology are often least able to afford it.

• The challenge for nimble technology social ventures is to overcome market failure by applying proven ideas to new development models.

Aims

• They hope to create and sustain social value and to benefit the communities

• Making life better for people.

• Make the world a better place.

Situation faced by people living in poverty: Health

• Many people do not have good health as they lack nutrients that can be easily obtained from food.

• Malnutrition is by far the biggest contributor to child mortality.

• The country itself cannot afford to build hospitals or train doctors, worsening the healthcare situation.

• Diseases are rampant in such areas.

Situation faced by people living in poverty: Hunger

• Poor people are less able to afford basic items such as food.

• Poor people spend a greater portion of their income on food than richer people.

• Those without or with very little income often are left without food and this will lead to stealing or even rioting.

Situation faced by people living in poverty: Education

• Schools lack basic facilities.• Problems from poverty such as illnesess will

distract the child from studying. He/She will miss many days of the academic year in school for medical reasons.

Situation faced by people living in poverty: Housing

• People cannot afford housing and have to live in slums or even in the streets, they lack personal security and privacy.

• Poor hygiene and sanitary facilities.

Child Poverty Action Group(CPAG).

• CPAG is one organization trying to help the poor

• Its aim is to raise awareness about poverty and find solutions for it

• Its does so by publishing information on the poor and what affects them

Child Poverty Action Group(CPAG).

• They also train advisers and keep them up to date on new policies that affect the poor

• Information and help is also provided through a free phone service

What we can do to help

• Students can make small donations to organizations of their choice

• We can also spread the word and encourage more people to join in

• We can also conduct small events in our school to help raise funds
