These are exciting times at Skeeter. While we are proud of the fact that many of our products have become industry standards, that’s not enough for us. We’re always driven to create a better fishing experience. This means constantly innovating, refining, and improving on the foundation we’ve built since 1948. It means new designs, new materials, and, ultimately, new ways to make each day on the water the best you’ve ever had.

Let me briefly touch on two examples of our most recent innovations. The all new FXR series is one of our biggest stories this year. We engineered it from the ground up in hopes of creating a boat that will change the way anglers fish and make their time on the water even more productive.

The other big news is the latest addition to our SX family, the SX2550. With two options available, the SX2550 Fish and the SX2550 Family, this is not only the largest bay boat we manufacture, but also one of the most diverse. We loaded both options with features, and left plenty of room for customization.

In 2019, we were also honored to be included in the 2019 Progressive® Insurance Minneapolis Boat Show® Innovation Awards for the introduction of our WX2200, the biggest Deep-V we’ve ever produced.

The boats in the 2020 catalog represent more than 70 years of experience, knowledge, and innovation. 2010THE FX SERIES Breaking barriers and building the dream of a bass boat all others are measured against lead to the introduction of Skeeter’s FX Series. This line-up of the FX20 and FX21 redefined the standard for the tournament angler, providing a competitive edge on the water.

2000sTORQUE TRANSFER SYSTEMWith the introduction of an all new Torque Transfer Transom, we set the industry precedent for modern construction.

1948HOLMES THURMONDIn 1948, the first Skeeter Bass Boat, believed to be the first bass boat ever, is built by Holmes Thurmond in Shreveport, Louisiana.

1950sFIRST TO USE FIBERGLASS IN BOATS We introduce fiberglass into our boats’ construction, making it possible for more sizes and styles of boats to be produced in larger numbers, while maintaining the quality we are known for.

1975FIRST V-BOTTOM BOAT Skeeter introduces the first V-bottom bass boat and sets a new standard in boating performance, bringing high performance and gaining popularity in the then-fledgling bass circuits.

1983COLEMAN The Coleman Company, already famous for their camping equipment, purchased Skeeter and our Fish ‘n’ Ski series was launched. That year, we also introduced the first SX bass model, beginning a line of boats that’s become the choice of thousands of fishermen.

1990FIRST DEEP-V BOATOur line of Deep-V boats achieved greater recognition when the walleye model took the triple crown at Angler of the Year in all three major walleye professional tour circuits.

1996YAMAHA Skeeter is acquired by Yamaha Boat Company, teaming our innovative designs with the most technologically advanced outboard engine company in the world.


1992THE ZX SERIES AND FIRST BAY BOATOur innovative ZX series is unveiled, combining a level of performance and set of features never seen before. It became and is still the #1 selling line in Skeeter history.

2017SKEETER BUILT® TRAILERS We open a 43,000 square foot facility in Kilgore, Texas, enabling us to build our own high-quality, innovative, Skeeter Built® trailers in-house.

1961STEMCO MARINE Ben Cook, co-founder of Stemco Corporation, acquires Skeeter patent rights and moved the plant to Longview, Texas. During the mid-60s, we saw greater demand for bigger boats, more horsepower, and greater control at high speeds.

Available in either a Fishing package or a Family package with a stylish T-top, this is the boat we’ve always wanted to build and you’ve always wanted to own. Both packages are loaded with unique features and industry-leading innovations you’ve come to expect from Skeeter.

OVERSIZED CONSOLEFeatures a full width and height side entry door. Large enough to add a portable toilet or serve as a changing room. Custom breaker panel and large access panel can also be found in the console.

LEAN POST BACKRESTLeaning post features thigh rise bolsters and arm rests. Color matching helm comes standard with hydraulic tilt steering, fatigue reducing EVA padded foot rest and cockpit sole.

REAR BENCH SEATBetween the jump seats, we added an easily removable cushion with backrest to provide extra seating above the rear livewell. Flip up the jump seat pads to reveal easy access to the battery compartments.

FORWARD SEATINGOn those days when the fish aren’t biting, it’s easy to configure the forward seating with a sun pad. If you’re not catching fish, catch some rays.

From the beginnings of Yamaha Motor Corporation in 1953, the stage was set for success through a vision of innovation. Only a few years before that, Holmes Thurmond built the first bass boat, designed upon many of the very characteristics of today’s bass boats – stability, shallow draft, room for tackle and gear and easy movement around the inside of the boat. His boat was dubbed a “Skeeter,” because of its long, needle-shaped nose that resembled a mosquito. These two joined forces in 1996, when

Yamaha Motor Corporation purchased Skeeter. Throughout the past 20 + years, Skeeter has introduced the next generation of bay boats, including the SX2550. These boats have also served as the platform for Yamaha’s four-stroke SHO engine technology – combining a powerhouse in boating and fishing. Along the way Yamaha motors have been keeping the Skeeter bay boat ahead of the pack with unmatched performance and reliability.

We know you invest heavily in your gear, so we use a vacuum-infusion process with state-of-the-art materials on our hatches, latches and storage areas to keep your gear safe and dry. Specialty glass and resins combine with PVC cross-linked foam core to make hatches lightweight, insulated, and protected from the often harsh saltwater environment.

C PROTECTING YOUR GEARThis revolutionary system, exclusive to Skeeter, is constructed of high-test aircraft grade structural aluminum bolted through our full width, EX-Cel composite transom. It is designed to transfer the tremendous energy and stress developed by the thrust of today’s high torque outboards to the bottom structure of the hull.

B TORQUE TRANSFER SYSTEMFor some of the industry’s strongest fiberglass hulls: the transom, stringers, and floor utilize aerospace derivatives known as EX-Cel composites, which provide outstanding strength and durability. Unlike our competitors, we only use foam for flotation and build the strength into our extra thick hull and deck sides using our unmatched fiberglass lamination process.

A AEROSPACE COMPOSITESOur hand-lamination process using fiberglass and resin materials, along with Armorcoat Technology, makes our SX Series consoles tight like a safe. Each console features an insulated polyethylene baitwell, rod holders, stainless steel handrail, and rear door for easy access to batteries and wiring.

1. Lean Post Baitwell: 40-gallon baitwell with Skeeter plumbing is secured to the deck behind the lean post. Circular tank geometry and transparent gasketed lid helps keep your bait alive and fresh for an entire day of fishing. Optional exchange on SX240 and SX230.

4. 80-Qt Engel® Deep Blue Performance Cooler: The number one rated cooler in the country. Features a full two inches of dense polyurethane foam for 8-10 days of cold-keeping capability. Air tight gaskets, marine grade latches, self-draining bottom, large non-skid, non-marking feet and molded hand grips with rope handles. Standard on all SX models.

Our premium quality upholstery vinyls offer superior abrasion resistance. UV resistance for up to 1,000 hrs, mildew resistance, fire retardant and can withstand cold cracking to -10°F. We also use premium quality thread which outlasts cotton/polyester threads, is resistant to rot and decay and is guaranteed to last the lifetime of the upholstery.
