In October 2014, element14 launched a global initiative to crowd source the ultimate Dev Kit.

Challenging the 350,000+ members of its Community to share their designs, element14 pit Dev Kit against Dev Kit in the ultimate battle of the DreamBoards.

With over 3,000 entries, only one could emerge victorious and become the official element14 DreamBoard.

Community members used element14’s bespokeweb-based tool to design and share their own DreamBoards.

By dragging and dropping components, the users customised their boards for hundreds of different uses.

Dianne Kibbey, Global Head of Community at element14

“The DreamBoard challenge has helped to showcase both the drive and creativity of engineers and electronics hobbyists all over the world. We at element14 have been extremely impressed with the sheer number of responses, as well as the enthusiasm that our Community has shown when developing these Dev Kits.

“From automated fish tanks to high altitude balloons, it hasbeen amazing to witness so many different passions in action.

“Now, as we move into the next phase of the DreamBoard,we look forward to seeing some of these passionsbrought to life.”
