    CAD Integration - Creating New Data

    Activity: Navigate the Part Selection dialog

    In this activity, you will start NX 2 in NX Manager mode and navigate

    through the Part Selection dialog.

    S t e p 1 : Star t Teamcenter Engineering Portal.

    Your inst ru ctor will give you s pecific inst ru ctions for

    launching Portal.

    Upon laun ching P ort al, th e Defau lt Applicat ion window appea rs.

    S t e p 2 : Log on to t he Porta l applicat ion.

    Choose My Navigator in t he Applicat ion Man ager.

    In th is activity, you will create a folder t o organ ize your par ts.

    S t e p 1 : C reat e a My Parts folder.

    Choose FileNew... or click the New icon .

    Right-click over your H o m e folder and select New Folder.

    The new folder is placed in your H o m e folder a nd t he Nam e

    field is highlighted.

    Type in My Parts in p lace ofNew Folder and press t he ENTER

    key for the name to be accepted.

    You can also r ight-click a folder object to Rena me it.

    Choose Cancel on the New Part File dialog.

    S t e p 1 : Create a new part file.

    Choose FileNew... or choose the New icon.

    The New Par t dialog appears.

    Double-click your My Parts folder.

    Double-clicking the My Parts folder makes it your

    reside in the My Parts folder until you identify a

    new default container.

    Leave th e Part Type set t o Item.

    I n t h e Part Number field, enter 5003_###, where ## #represents a num ber designat ed by your instructor.

    I n t h e Part Revision field, enter 00 0.

    Leave th e Part File Type set t o master.

    Be sure that your Seed Part setting is Inch.

    Define a base point ofXC=0, YC=0 a n d ZC=0 and choose OK.

    The Vector Constructor dialog displays giving you the

    opportunity to create another cylinder.

    Choose Cancel to dismiss the Vector Constructor dialog.

    S t e p 9 : Create a Boss on the Shaft.

    Choose the Boss icon (or InsertForm FeatureBoss...).

    Enter a Diameter of.75 and a H eight of2.1875.

    Select the lower planar placement face (bottom of cylinder).

    Select the lower edge of the large cylinder.

    Choose Arc Center on the Set Arc Position dialog.

    Step 10: Add a cham fer t o the Sha ft.

    Choose t he InsertFeature OperationChamfer option.

    By default, t he Chamfer icon d oes n ot dis pla yin th e user interface.

    The Chamfer dialog appears.

    Choose Single Offset.

    In th is activity, you will crea te a new Cast er Assembly using the piece par ts

    you created earlier.

    S t e p 1 : Create the Caster Assembly.

    Choose the New icon.

    Verify th at My Parts is the default container.

    I n t h e Part Number field, enter 5000_###, where ###represents a num ber designat ed by your instructor.

    I n t h e Part Revision field, enter 00 0.

    Leave th e Part File Type set t o master a n d Seed Part sett o Inch.

    Choose OK.

    The Edit Database Attr ibutes dialog appears.

    With th e Part Name att ribute highlighted, type Caster Assy int h e Value field and press ENTER.

    Make sure t he Reference Set is set t o SOLID.

    Verify th at Positioning is set to Absolute a n d Layer Options isset t o Original.

    Choose OK.

    On t he Point Const ru ctor dialog, enter th e following values:

    XC=2.5; YC=0; ZC=2.375.

    Notice t he ZC value is a negative value. It isi m port an t t o ent er t he ZC value a s a negative.

    The wheel geometr y ass embly is scaled t o the screen size for

    easier viewing.

    S t e p 5 : Add the existing component (Axle) to the Caster Assembly.

    The Select Part dialog should still be present.

    Select the Choose Part File button.

    Expand the Find list .

    E xpand t h e 5002 Axle Item.

    Select the 5002/000 Axle and choose OK.

    Choose OK to dismiss t he War ning dialog.

    Verify the Reference Set field is set to SOLID.

    Verify the Positioning field is set to Absolute a n d LayerOptions is set to Original.

    Choose OK.

    On t he Point Const ru ctor dialog, enter th e following values:

    XC=2.5; YC=1.625; ZC=2.375.

    Notice both the YC a n d ZC values ar e negative values.It is importa nt to enter these values as n egative.

    Select Choose Part File.

    Choose OK.

    On the Point Constructor dialog, press Reset t o reset t hefollowing values: XC=0; YC=0; ZC=0.

    Select the Choose Part File button.

    Activity: Create a Drawing

    In th is activity, you will crea te a dra wing of the 5003_### Shaft pa r t. You willbe creating a manifestation from your master geometry.

    S t e p 1 : Create the new drawing.

    Choose the New icon.

    Select the part for which you will create the drawing

    (5003_###/000).

    Th e Part Number a n d Part Revision fields a re filledin automatically when you select the part.

    Choose manifestation i n t he Part File Type field.

    You ha ve now designat ed a non-master par t file type. Notice

    t h a t t h e Add Master par t option is available. With th is optiontoggled on, th e ma ster part is aut omat ically added, as a n

    assembly component, to the non-mast er part .

    Choose C-Size from the Seed Part pull-down menu .

    Choose OK to accept the defaults in the Edit DatabaseAtt ribut es dialog.

    The Add Mast er dialog displays. This dialog ena bles you to

    control a number of parameters of the component that is to be

    added to your non-mast er par t.

    Choose OK to accept the default values.

    The master geometry is now referenced in the drawing.
