Wireless Sensor Networks
Senses of Human Body
The operation of all senses involves
the reception of stimuli
by sense organs,
Each of which is sensitive to a
particular kind of stimulus.
Senses of Human Body contd.. I. The eyes are sensitive to light
II. Various sense organs of the skin and other tissues are sensitive to touch, pain, temperature
III. The ears are to sense sound
IV. The taste buds are to taste.
V. The Nose is to odor
A device that detects or measures a physical property and records, indicates, or otherwise responds to it.
What is a sensor ?
A Light Sensor can use to detect the light level - i.e. how bright/dark it is.
There are a range of different types of light sensors, including ‘Photo resistors', 'Photodiodes', and
'Phototransistors'.
Light sensors
Air temperature is a measure of how hot or cold the air is.
It is the most commonly measured weather parameter
Air Temperature sensors
Humidity Sensor
A humidity sensor (or hygrometer) senses, measures and reports the relative humidity in the air.
It therefore measures both moisture and air temperature
Humidity sensors
A soil moisture sensor measures the quantity
of water contained in a material, such
as soil on a volumetric or gravimetric basis
Soil Moisture sensors
Leaf Sensor
A leaf sensor is a photometric device (measurement of plant physiological processes) that measures water
loss or the water deficit stress (WDS) in plants by real-time monitoring the moisture level in plant leaves.
Leaf sensors
A temperature sensor is a device, typically, a thermocouple or RTD, that provides for
temperature measurement through an electrical signal
Temperature Sensors
A smoke detector is a device that
senses smoke, typically as an
indicator of fire.
Smoke Detector Sensors
Door sensors (sometimes known as photoelectric or infrared
beam, electric safety door edges, door detector, electric
proximity edges, or electric doorman) is an elevator device that
detects a passenger or an object on the doorway which prevents
the doors from closing
Automatic Door Sensors
Proximity / Gesture sensors
It recognizes the user’s hand movements using infrared rays
