“HockeyPuck”Thisisaprettysimplemodthatallowsyoutobypassthehomeplate(largeresonatorontopoftheengine)Yousimplygetahockeypuck…popitintotherubberelbow…secureittightly…andyouaredone.Notahuge“seatofthepants”improvement,butitwillmakeyourenginesoundmorepowerful.LolIalsokeptthelookofthehomeplatebygrindingdowntheplasticnipplethatoncewentintotheintakeelbow.Thisallowedtheplatetositflushonthehockeypuck.Mostpeoplejustdiscardthehomeplate.

AnalternativetothehockeypuckistofindorbuyaLT1“F‐Body”(Camaro/Firebird)elbow.Itdoesnothavetheholeforhomeplate.Thesearenotcheapthough.

“SewerPipe”AnotherDIYintakethatcanaddsomemoreflowtoyourairintake.(ditching1stbase)YousimplygotoLowesorHDepotandbuya3inpieceofPVCpipe.Youwillalsoneeda3inrubberconnectorand2clamps.Somepeoplegetall‐fancywith45degreeangles…youcanifyouwant.Istucktothebasicidea.Youcanseefrommypicthatthisintakecanbeusedwiththemechanicalfan.IdidnotchouttheareasontherubberconnectortoallowtheMAFtoseatsecurely.SinceIwentwiththestraightpipedesign,Ihadtoangletheairfilterbox.Todothisyouneedtounscrewthetopportionfromtheinnerfender(youneedatorxhead)andthen“pop”theairboxoutoftherubbergrommetsthatholdthebottom.(WhichisactuallythetopcoverforthePCM)Youcanthenangletheboxandpoptheboxintoonegrommet.Thisstillholdstheboxverysecurely.Ihadnoissues.IcoveredtheholeontheinnerfenderwithmysnazzynewK&Nsticker.TomakethesewerpipeNOTlooklikeasewerpipe,Iusedacanofrubberizedundercoating.GaveitaniceOEMlook.Youcanalsousecrinklepaintaswell.
