What is a Network?
A network is a group of interconnected computers that cancommunicate with each other. Computers on a local area
network (LAN) are on the same floor or in the same
building, are directly connected to a file server and share
equipment such as printers. Wide area networks (WAN)link computers or LANs over a greater distance. Computers
may be wired directly or wireless.
Why save to the network?
Saving to the network is like having a virtual briefcase that can go anywhere o
campus with you. When you save to the network you also back up your files,
which means if for some reason your computer crashes any work you have
saved to the server will still be there!

What is the difference between a
Network and the Internet?
The Internet is a massive network of computers which anyone with access to an
internet connection can view. A network is available to computers set up to view
the network. You cannot view the files on our network from home because your
personal computer is not connected to the network.
