What is COMPUTER?is a digital electronic device that processes data through a series of commands into information and storage. It can perform mathematical and logical operations, and process large volumes of data at high speed.

A Computer has four basic functions:

Computer Systemrefers to a complete working computer. It

includes not only the computer but also any software and peripheral devices that are necessary to make the computer function.

System Softwareis a catch-all term for the programs that

handle the running of a computer’s hardware.Operating System Utilities

Operating system

a program that conducts the communication between the various pieces of hardware like the video card, printer, the mother board, sound card, and the applications.

Utility programPerform tasks related to the maintaining of a

computer’s health-hardware or data.

Input/Output (I/O) – refers to the communication between an information processing system (such as computer and the outside world – a human or another information processing system.

Port – serves as an interface between the computer and other computers or peripheral devices. It is a specialized outlet on a piece of equipment to which a plug or cables connect.
