I can know that death is sometimes less painful than life. There is a certain confidence that comes with time and trial. I hate to leave all that. On the other hand, I observe my limitations more fully than ever – hearing loss, diminished eyesight, remembering names, forgetting other things, dealing with aches and pains, etc., etc., etc. It is time – or biblically speaking, “the fullness of time”. I have never been one to be confident that I have arrived at all the right answers in life, so I plan to continue to read and learn and get in touch with the more creative side of my head that has been overlooked while doing the work of life and ministry. So, travel, play, write, create, volunteer, sail, ride, stay in touch with the big world all around us – that’s what I “plan” to do, God willing. How it all comes out, well, that’s TBD. Love, Bob I t seems like I spend an inordinate amount of time these days thinking about PR. I am not talking about Public Relations or Pastoral Relations, but Post Retirement. What will I do after I retire? It is not that I lack ideas in this matter; it’s just that I’m struggling to put things into any kind of chronological perspective. I have wonderful ideas, but I want to sort of scatter them out so that I don’t leave any gaping holes in the retirement process. I do not know how to plan these things so that all the ingredients stirred together can produce an edible cake. On the one hand, I am retiring at a time when I know more about my profession than I have ever known, and have a skill set that, while imperfect, is still far better than it was in the beginning. I can enter a dying patients’ room without the abject Call the church office during the week to schedule your appointment 436 - 0462 September 17 - 20 2:30 pm. - 9:00p.m. Saturday September 21 9:30 am. - 2:00 p.m. If you have daytime hours free, would you kindly schedule your portrait time for the daytime and leave the evenings open for those who work or have school hours. There are no words to express my appreciation for the calls, cards, visits and food. Having the meals brought in was a true blessing. I don't know what I would have done without your help. The Barry Christian Church family is the best. Thank you. Ruth Ann
