Bargo Bush Buzz Bargo Public School Newsletter Great Southern Road, Bargo. NSW 2574 02 4684 1396 [email protected] Term 3 Week 2 Welcome to Term 3. I hope the start of the new term was a positive one for all. We are hoping for a calm term ahead with continuity in learning across our school. COVID-19 Update As you are aware, schools are open for business and students are expected to be at school unless they are unwell. Teaching and learning is taking place throughout each and every classroom. I have been impressed with the way our students have returned from the school holiday period, enthusiastically engaging in their learning. We continue to promote and maintain hygienic practices throughout the school on a daily basis. Students are washing their hands regularly and are being encouraged to follow the guidelines set by NSW Health. Our school is equipped with hand sanitiser, thermometers and the required resources to support in promoting the health and safety of our students, staff and community. The NSW Department of Education have continued to provide enhanced cleaning around the school grounds daily. Additional cleaners have been allocated to wipe down surfaces, handles, railings etc throughout the day. We will need to continue our before and after school routines where students are using the front and back gate as drop off and pick up points. It is important that our school community follow the guidelines by remaining socially distanced in these areas at these times. Under advice we are minimising the amount of people coming on site, where only essential staff and visitors are entering. For the health and safety of all, this unfortunately means we cannot have parents accessing school grounds. Please only approach the office or canteen for essential purposes or if you have been requested to attend an urgent meeting. We thank you for your ongoing support during this time. If you have any concerns, please contact the school on 4684 1396. Education Week It is Education Week next week where we would usually be inviting our school community along to celebrate the learning that takes place in public education. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 we are unable to have our usual open day and community based events. The theme this year is ‘Learning Together’, which is definitely very appropriate to 2020. The home learning period of COVID-19 has made this theme extremely relevant for all. Education Week is a time to celebrate all of the amazing things your children do at school on a daily basis. We will still be celebrating Education Week, however, it will be a little different where our creativity is certainly being put to the test. We aim to share the experiences of Education Week with you across social media and communication platforms. Parent / Teacher Interviews Parent / Teacher Interviews will be taking place during weeks 4 and 5. Due to the current guidelines we are unable to conduct these meetings face to face. Instead we will be offering interviews via phone. A note will be coming out over the next week with more information about how to book a time to talk to your child’s teacher. These interviews are a great opportunity for you to discuss the progress of your child / children with the classroom teacher. Class and School Based Awards Class teachers have still been acknowledging student achievement by handing out awards even though we’ve been unable to have our regular assemblies. We would like to encourage students to still collect their awards and if they accumulate enough for the next level to bring them into school. As we would normally do in week 5 and 10 of this term, we are planning to have an assembly to recognise any Bargo Blue achievements. As we can’t have parents present to see their children receive their awards we are going to either live stream or record the awarding of these achievements. Please bring in awards, clearly labelled with your child’s name, preferably in a plastic sleeve or stapled together and place in the letterbox or give to the class teacher by the end of week 4 for the week 5 assembly. Thanks and Congratulations A huge thank you to all the families who returned their contact and permissions information. This ensures we have the correct details for your children. We had such a large response to the return that I decided one prize was not enough and so have drawn out 4 families to receive a gift voucher. These will be available for pick up from Calendar Aug 3-7 Education Week Aug 4 School Photos Payment envelopes will come home soon
