It is important to examine the progress of Design in historical time and

geographical space.

Design sometimes has been described as one of the youngest

professions and one of the oldest human acts.

Art and Design courses are for

those who have impeccable creative

skills.

A degree in art and design would

enhance their skills and gets them

better opportunities.

The boundaries between art and

design courses in India are blurred,

largely due to a range of applications

both for the term 'art' and 'design'.

Art connects with people in

different ways, because it’s

interpreted differently.

The fundamental purpose of design

is to communicate a message and

motivate the viewer to do something.

Our migration from the twentieth century to the

twenty-first century has dramatically altered the

landscape of design and its role in shaping the

contours of our future.

The purpose of design in improving people’s

quality of life continues to retain its position.

However, the context of design has changed

and has changed like never before.

Design is today required to delve deep into

understanding what is happening in different

societies, cultures and people’s daily life in order

to envision a relevant and meaningful future.

So You Want to be a Designer

If you’re thinking of a career

as a professional designer,

there are some important

things you need to know

before making your decision.

Good news

The good news is that design –

in all its many fields – can

deliver great challenges, give

you an outlet for your creative

drive, and provide you with the

satisfaction of seeing tangible

results from your working life.

‘Look! I designed that!’

There’s nothing like the buzz of

creativity, especially when it’s

your own.

Design Education

Design education has become a major growth area in both

secondary and tertiary education.

The education of designers requires teachers, lecturers and

tutors with knowledge in the many subject areas that designers

must study. It also requires experienced designers in each design

discipline who are able to pass on the realities of professional

practice.

Design educators may have qualifications in a design discipline

or in one of the subjects that make up the curriculum. They may

additionally have qualifications in teaching.
