Instituted weekly bedside rounds on the most complex patients.

Responsible for the supportive management and advanced education of critical care personnel, including house staff and nursing staff in an academic clinical medical center (Level I trauma center). Conduct educational programs related to hemodynamic and oxygenation profile interpretation, pharmacology and treatment endpoints in shock. Provide expert bedside consultation to staff and charge nurses during nursing rounds, and on request by the physician staff.

Developing case studies for publication with critical care nurses, pharmacist and residency staff.

Developed protocols and methodologies for therapeutic hypothermia, advancing Insulin therapy and sedation-analgesia guidelines, severe sepsis, STEMI, RN chest pain team and special contagious diseases.

Developed and direct a weekly family support meeting “The Family Tree: Together we survive critical care” dealing with issues regarding critical illness and family dynamics.

Mentoring senior nurses in regard to scientific and case study publications, oral presentations, and research data collection.

Principle investigator for 2 grant applications in sepsis identification in the emergency department and sepsis knowledge of nurses: simulation makes a difference.
