THE ATTACKS AND THE DEFENSESIn XVI and XVII century, the corsairs attacked from Maghrib and the Ottoman empire.

The villages were pillaged and the trade was interrupted.

The catalans organized their own cors and the galleys production was multiplied.

CLASSES OF BANDITSHandsome or bullies: they were reckless and they seeked adventure and danger. They were usually public murderers. Smugglers: They abstained from killing because they were forced by necessity. Famous Thieves: they robbed rich people

Serrallonga (Joan Sala) was a popular bandit in Catalonia. He was arrested and executed in 1634.

THE CAUSE OF THE BANDITRYThis was due because the bubonic plague at 1650, when the population decreased. When it was finished, the population and the economy increased again. Some people were bandits because they had became poor.

WHERE IS THE DANGER?After the groups were formed, the bandits were the danger in land and the corsairs and the pirates in the sea. Both made the same: pillaged and plundered.
