Band 1/2Sample 1 – Examiner’s AnnotationsSample Play: Two Weeks with the Queen by Mary Morris

■ Although this project has included a rationale and the minimum requirements for a costume design project, thiscandidate has demonstrated a limited understanding of the play with no apparent design concept.

■ There is little awareness or use of colour, texture or fabric swatches to indicate the characters’ social standing, personality traits or representation of the characters’ link to the dramatic elements for each character.

■ Renderings display a minimal ability to present figures in a theatrical or dramatic context.■ Although some preliminary sketches are included, the support material is basic and does not clearly present an

overall vision or understanding of the play as a whole.

Note: Although the samples selected represent a borderline achievement for the project as a whole, the students' achievementas measured against any one of the three individual marking criteria may have been noticeably above or below the typical borderline achievement.
