The Banana Story

Permaculture @ Adyar Cancer InstituteMay 2014

Page 2: Banana story

When we saw this sunny patch on our first visit, Kavitha said “We should plant bananas here”. The patch was along the main path to the MMT ward, but it was water logged from a leaky pipe and drain.

We built a simple fence around it and planted within. Many volunteers helped – parents and caregivers of the children, doctor’s kids, SCOPE volunteers…

We found some construction rubble and pipes, so we directed the flow from the downspouts to the bananas.
