The Works

The works are split into 2 distinct phases

1. Enabling works

2. Main Works

Enabling Works

• Work to commence in January 2012 and take 24 months to complete

• Diversion /relocation of services along Ballymun Road and at the footprint of DCU and Ballymun Stops including:

8km drainage 150 deep drainage manholes 4.5km water main 2.5km gas main 3.5km eircom

Enabling Works

• Majority of diversions within Ballymun Road & Balcurris Road

• Lighter diversions in footpaths

• Over 200 separate traffic management phases to keep disruption to a minimum

• 2 lanes traffic maintained along Ballymun Road in each direction

• Bus lanes to operate over a 24 hour day along Ballymun Road

• Pedestrian and vehicle access to businesses will be retained

Main Works Construction

• Cut & Cover tunnel through Ballymun• Stop Box

Main works 24 months (excavation and concrete works) 2013 to 2016

Equipping the Station 8 months

Testing and commissioning the system 6 months

Main works is carried out in 2 distinct phases to ensure pedestrian access maintained and two lanes open along Ballymun Main Street

The Aim

The aim for RPA is to design and construct the works without materially impacting on the existing businesses

• Keeping Ballymun open for Business

• Ensuring people in Ballymun can continue to go about their daily business safely and with as little

disruption as possible

• By maintaining: Pedestrian access to all premises Access for servicing and deliveries Access to all existing car parks

• Active communication and liaison with business community and the public

All of this is achieved through • Careful planning and execution of the works

Managing our Environment

• Noise and dust limits strictly controlled and monitored

• High quality, well maintained attractive hoarding for the Main Works

• Good lighting and signage will be provided between the worksites and the shops/business premises

• Good housekeeping, plant and equipment cleaned and fully serviced, worksites kept tidy and dust free

• RPA and its contractor will work closely with you the business community throughout the construction period

RPA Commitments

RPA will:

•Have an ongoing role throughout the works•Ensure you are consulted and kept informed about the works•Arrange open forums with local businesses & residents•Run a 24/7 hotline for queries and complaints•Appoint Community Liaison Officers dedicated to Ballymun

area•Provide up to date information through meetings and other

communications channels

Contractor’s Commitments

The Contractor(s) will:• Comply with the Railway Order and all environmental

constraints set out in the EIS• Comply with the Conditions of Contract• Comply with all statutory requirements and controls imposed

by the Local Authority• Plan the works in line with best practice• Educate and brief his workforce on a regular basis• Engage with you
