Notts County suffered their first defeat since the end of January with a 2-0 defeat at Bury this afternoon. County were unfortunate to find themselves a goal down at the break which came from Bury's leading scorer Andy Bishop on forty minutes at Gigg Lane. The win was secured late on through defender Efe Sodje's close-range finish. Richard Butcher was handed his first start in three months at Gigg Lane after recovering from a metatarsal injury; he replaced Nat Wedderburn in the middle of the park in the only change from the side that started at Macclesfield in midweek. Michael Johnson was fit enough to start after picking up a head injury at Macclesfield while leading scorer Jamie Forrester was named on the bench after recovering from a toe injury that forced him to miss the win over Barnet and the Macclesfield game. In their black and white stripes County got the game underway and
started positively by taking the game to the Shakers. A nice move between Forte and Butcher created a pocket of space on the edge of the area for the returning midfielder to advance towards goal but Cresswell did well for Bury to hold off Butcher and clear his lines. Bury almost opened the scoring on fourteen minutes from a corner but Delroy Facey was perfected placed at the far post to clear Andy Bishop's glancing header off the line. The home side had a goal ruled through Bennett at the midway point of the half for a foul which the Shakers strongly protested about. A minute later Forte burst clear and he beat the onrushing Tyler to the ball, but he was forced wide by no less than four Bury defenders which meant Notts couldn't force the ball into the box and take advantage of the situation. On twenty-five the Shakers had a penalty claim waved away by Referee Mr Beeby after Pilkington and Morrell clashed just inside the Notts area, with the home fans reacting furiously and they were quick to vent their frustration at the official. After reducing the home side to barely any opportunities their leading scorer Andy Bishop provided a moment of class to open the scoring five minutes before the break. After a foul by Sodje on Weston went un-noticed the home side broke forwards Report continued on page 8

Visit www.ltlf.co.uk for the latest news, comment and humour about the Reds, plus the liveliest Forest forum on the web.
Forest are in real danger. It is clearer now than ever before. Promoted by default with a fairly poor side, and lead into the Championship with a skeletal squad and barely enough paper to hide the cracks. It is a sickly weak side of pallid skeletons and fluttering stomachs. The more experienced professionals in the team, including Smith, Breckin, Wilson and Chambers, are a division above their standard. The youngsters have been thrown overboard without their floats. And if Nottingham Forest are sinking like the Titanic, this could well have been the iceberg. It was a disaster. Only an ailing Forest side can destroy the pageant of a derby day with this level of barbarism. The stage was set to perfection. The sun illuminated the ground as though it was the first day of summer, and with the tannoy silenced the atmosphere bubbled to a searing crescendo. But from the first whistle it would only get progressively worse. An average but industrious Derby side with simple ideas and basic efficiency left Forest reeling. Within four awkward minutes they had taken the lead, and it was fairly obvious that there would be no coming back. Robert Earnshaw came closest to equalising as he raced on to McGugan's through ball deep into the first half, but the ball wouldn't sink in time as Bywater approached and his lob landed in the roof of the net. It would have been an equaliser that Forest
scarcely deserved. Derby have learned from each of their meetings with Forest and have improved every single time. Today they sat deep and absorbed Nathan Tyson's runs, they closed down Forest's mechanical 10-yard passes and squeezed tight on their tottering defenders. Forest meanwhile, had taken nothing from a humiliating defeat and two scrappy draws against the very same side. Hulse and Commons again looked twice the quality they actually are. Their defence will scarcely have an easier game all season. Immediately after half-time Rob Hulse put the result almost beyond doubt, and a clumsy James Perch laid on a penalty to seal the rout. Only with Derby reduced to ten men as McEveley went off injured could an atrocious Forest muster a consolation. Match Ratings: Smith – 5 – woeful uncertainty in dealing with balls into the box. The entire defence is less confident when he plays. The looks of horror on his face when he came flying off his line late on told a thousand stories. Chambers – 4 – how many of his long balls forward fell straight to Derby feet? Too many to count, that's for certain. Morgan – 5.5 – salvaged a clumsy display with one or two botched roves into attack. The defence as a whole was pulled apart by some very simple football, and he has to take his share of the blame. Breckin – 4.5 – excellent last ditch tackle on Commons in the first half, but he was pulled to pieces. Heath – 5.5 – struggled defensively but showed more confidence on the ball than most of his colleagues. He can hold his head up, but our defence is not the sort to comfortably accommodate burgeoning youngsters. Anderson – 4.5 – I'm pleased that, as a loanee, he was prepared to fight his way into the side. But he wasn't ready for a return, and it showed. McGugan – 5.5 – as frustrating as his 'energy levels' were, again, his individual play was our only outlet all game. Perch – 4 – anything but captain material. Stupid penalty. Cohen – 5.5 – all of the huffing and puffing a man can muster, but this was not his day. Earnshaw – 5.5 – scored, but missed plenty of chances that he'd have bagged if fit. Tyson – 4 – an unwelcome return for the brick-feeted first touch and runs into scotch mist. Report by Alex Campbell

Notts County Report continued from page 4and with room to shoot outside the box the striker intelligently saw enough room between Pilkington and the goal to lift a delicate chip perfectly over the goalkeeper's outstretched arm and into the back of the net. It was a piece of brilliance from Bishop, but without a doubt Notts should have had a free-kick after Sodje's arms were all around Weston. No real further action followed and Notts went in at the break, harshly, a goal down. The second half started promisingly for County although there was a moment of worry at the back a low cross from the left by Bennett fizzed across the six-yard box with Bishop and Morrell lurking with intent. A good run by Weston created an opening for Facey six minutes into the half at the far post but his header was cleared off the line by a Bury defender and somehow cleared their lines. Notts made their first change on sixty-seven minutes by introducing leading scorer Jamie Forrester into the action in place of Matt Hamshaw who looked to have been carrying a knock. That meant Forrester joined Facey in attack, Weston moved to the right wing and Forte to the right. Gavin Strachan quickly followed in place of Richard Butcher after putting in a hardworking shift in midfield after his long-awaited first start since being injured in November. Chances were limited throughout as Notts battled away, although ten minutes from time Jones curled an effort just wide for Bury. Six minutes from time Bury secured their victory through defender Efe Sodje, who stabbed the ball home following a goalmouth scramble after a Notts defender had cleared Dawson's effort off the line. Sodje however made no mistake from a few yards out to secure the win. A Clapham free-kick was blocked late on for Notts, who never through the towel in. It was the start of a tough run of fixtures for County, and although it ended in defeat Ian McParland will have been able to draw plenty out of this game as his side prepare to tackle Bradford City at Meadow Lane next Saturday. With three wins from their last four at Meadow Lane, there's every reason to look forward to the visit of the Bantams.
NON-LEAGUE REPORTSOxford 1Mansfield Town 0There was never much to separate these two old Football League friends, and Stags had more than enough chance to get themselves on the scoresheet. And it was the Stags who tested home goalkeeper Billy Turley for the first time on seven minutes.Louis Briscoe won a free kick 25 yards from goal, but the resulting free kick from Nathan Arnold was easily saved. Moments later, Rob Duffy, returning to the Kassam Stadium where he was once so prolific, struck goalwards but his effort was off target. Oxford registered their first attempt on goal in the tenth minute. U's striker James Constable wriggled his way past Scott Garner and Paul Mayo, but was thwarted by a superb stop from Alan Marriott, who stood large in the Stags goal. Mansfield then won their second corner on 23 minutes following good work down the right by Gary Silk, but the flag kick came to nothing. Silk was then involved in a neat move two minutes later.Following a one two with Arnold on the edge of the box, Silk almost got hold of the ball inside the area,
but Chris Carruthers stopped him in his tracks with a last ditch tackle. A minute later, captain Jonathan D'Laryea forced a save from Billy Turley as Stags continued to apply the early pressure. Louis Briscoe who appeared injured, was then replaced by Aaron O'Connor on 28 minutes. O'Connor wasted no time in settling into the match with a shot at goal. But it was a routine stop from Oxford's Turley. Stags' best chance of the half came on 32. Turley was required to make a point blank save from a Curtis Woodhouse header following good play on the right flank. Six minutes from the end of the first half, Oxford built up slowly down the right, and the move ended with Lee Chapman shooting over from inside the area. In the final stages of the first period, James Constable tried to beat Marriott from outside the area, and at the other end Paul Mayo tried his luck following a good run, cutting in from the left. In the last minute of the half, Craig Nelthorpe rounded off the chances with the best of the lot - striking the bar from the left hand side of the area. Two minutes into the second period, Billy Turley was sent down to his right, having to stop a Nathan Arnold strike from outside the area, after a neat one-two with Aaron O'Connor. A minute later, Craig Farrell, with all the time in the world, blazed a shot over from 15 yards, following a move on the wing. On 56, the league's player of the month Scott Garner had to be alert after a dangerous whipping cross from Nelthorpe on the left. The young defender intervened to clear the danger when a goalscoring chance may have prevailed. Home goalie Turley, who had been in the thick of the action in the first half, was called upon again to deny Arnold from inside the area. The home side broke the deadlock on the hour. It was a break away from the U's, started by livewire James Constable. He turned Stags' last defender to break down the right, and he laid the ball off to the advancing Nelthorpe who was left with a simple finish into the roof of the net to score his first goal for the club in the process. Straight after the goal, Michael Blackwood came on for Curtis Woodhouse. Ten minutes later Craig Farrell, who looked clearly offside, was left one on one with Alan Marriott, but Marriott came quickly off his line to make the stop. A similar chance presented itself for Stags on 72. O'Connor timed his run well to get past the defence, but Turley raced out to block the shot. The home side had to withstand another Stags' chance. Firstly, Arnold mis fired a shot and then O'Connor followed up with an effort, which eventually came to nothing. Manager David Holdsworth made his final change 15 minutes from the end. Neil MacKenzie replacing Rob Duffy as Stags seemingly changed to a 4-3-1-2 formation. On 82, Alan Marriott, who had again been impeccable all afternoon, was relied on to make a fingertip save on to the post from a Luke Foster header following a corner. In the 90th minute, Neil MacKenzie fired goalwards to try and register a goal which never came.
Hednesford Town 0Eastwood Town 1Backed by a large and vociferous following, there was a good chance for the Badgers within seconds of the kick off, when goalkeeper Danny Woodhall's poor clearance fell at the feet of Ross Gardner who tried to play Ian Holmes through on goal but Danny Harvey slide in to avert the danger. Sean Platt the Hednesford right back was given too
much time from a throw to deliver a good cross but Mark Hume was alert to the danger. Russell Cooke did well to stop Matt Lewis from getting a shot on goal as both teams were struggling to cope with the poor surface. A Richard Dunning free kick into the Hednesford box caused problems, Lindon Meikle's snap shot cannoning off Tom Marshall for the Badgers first corner, however Hume's header sailed harmlessly wide. Ross Gardner fired wide from outside the box,and moments later Cooke almost put the Badgers ahead. Gardner's fine run and cross field pass found Meikle and Alex Cowley was only too please to concede the corner. With Hednesford's big men watching Paul Robinson and Mark Hume, Cooke ghosted in and rattled the bar with a brilliant header. Andy Todd was unlucky not to get onto an Alistair Asher cross but the game was becoming fought out in midfield with the defences generally on top. The Hednesford fans on the far side thought they had scored the one time the Eastwood defence were caught napping. A quick throw to Matt Lewis was pulled back from the by-line, the industrious Elliott Durrell fired a shot straight into the body of Anton Foster which ricocheted to former Eastwood target Ross Dyer who smashed the ball into the side netting from outside the box. Hednesford's Florent Raimy was red carded for a two footed challenge on Anton Foster in a scene reminiscent to the disallowed Ronaldo goal at Derby. The referee waved play on and as soon at the play broke down he brought it back and carded the Romainian much to the dismay of the Hednesford fans. Rapinder Gill did well to deny Lindon Meikle a run on goal as the Badgers looked to capitalise on their numerical advantage. Asher and Gardner combined well and Holmes did brilliantly to chest down, swivel and fire in a shot that Woodhall did well to take for the final action of the half. Todd robbed Cowley and played in Holmes to shoot wide in the opening moments of the second half and Meikle's shot a minute later was a nice height for the keeper to save. The Badgers most expensive signings Danny Holland was introduced to the action earlier than anticipated with the withdrawal of Ross Gardner with a swollen ankle. Dunning played a long ball out to Anton Foster on the wing. He rolled the ball back to Russell Cooke to measure his cross however it evaded everyone except Rapinder Gill who applied the deftest of touches to deceive Danny Woodhall in the Hednesford goal. Elliott Durrell fired over the bar after a good run, and Redmond caught a dangerous Bennett cross as Hednesford started to see a bit more of the ball. Ross Draper looked like he might profit from a Dunning slip but Hume produced a match winning tackle to deny him. Durrell was seeing a lot of the ball by now and he tested Redmond with a shot from outside the box but Redmond was equal to it. The Badgers were denied a second goal when Holmes produced a superb shot across goal which Woodhall did well to save. Holland was onto the loose ball in a flash and drove home from just outside the six yard box however the linesman raised his flag presumably for offside, however with Holland latching onto a save it seemed a poor decision. Meikle dummied Marshall out on the touchline, cut inside and drove the ball for the top corner that Woodhall did well to tip over as the Badgers pressed for a second. The Badgers had a good penalty shout turned down when Todd's cross hit Harvey. Holmes was adjudged to be offside despite making his run onto Foster's through ball from his own half after Foster robbed Durrell, with all the Hednesford players committed in attack. One couldn't help wondering if the officials were looking to atone for the earlier sending off, and this feeling was compounded after a second goal was chalked off. Dunning played Holland in on goal and Woodhall made a superb save, the ball bouncing out to Dunning who tried a cross to the far post, however this time Woodhall made a harsh of his catch, falling backwards and spilling the ball into the net. So the three points went to the Badgers putting them three points clear of new second placed team Nantwich Town. Hednesford fall to third and face a tricky game at home to Ilkeston on Tuesday night when they play their game in hand on Nantwich.Send in your non-league reports to [email protected] and we will include in Nottinghamshire’s top sports readBallsmania

NOTTS OPEN PREMIER POOL LEAGUE - PONDA RILEYS HAMMER SPOT ON!Premier 1With an outside chance to go 3rd beckoning Ponda-Rileys hammered Spot On Sneinton 11-1 (Mason, Chad). Greg & Lee of the Mason Brothers; both snatched victory from the jaws of defeat to set Ponda-Rileys up for their record win. The elusive white-wash was cruelly scuppered by Justin Marsden and Martin Maltby against 'Chad' and 'Mase.' Despite Talismen Andy Leese (Xmas do?) and Matt Tugby (Uni Pool champ's) being absent the Rileys lads put their neighbours to the sword. The match was done and dusted by 10.15; as news filtered through that Cherry Tree were preparing to play 'Boring' Blackshaw in the final stages against the Tavern, all hope of a third place confirmation for Ponda-Rileys was lost at the very least until the early hours! Stepping back in time to 8pm and over to the opposite side of the City, Park Tav 'A' travelled to Calvo to take on the re-vitalised Cherry Tree. PTA licking their wounds after 2 straight league defeats duly uprooted the tree and sent Ian Owen's boys back to familiar losing ways 4-8. The top of the bill clash of the tight 'uns between Spot On One and Masters had to be postponed until March 2 because each side had a player away on England duty. The postponement was much to the annoyance of Los Sanderson and Chris Bailey who may have stepped up to fill the boots of their illustrious team mates had the match gone ahead. Thanks again to Gary Sherwood and for his input to this report, though surprisingly Trev didn't volunteer a report this week from the Cherry angle.Premier 2Gregory v Greyhound didn't post their result in time for a report, but that makes the league for now look very close after Friar Tuck narrowly secured a win away to challengers Park Tavern Langham. Sherwood Social Club also joined the pack of 4 at the top with a solid win away to Sun Valley. Sun Valley looked out of this one at 1-4 down but a doubles win then victories by Gordon Carnell and Pete Sims levelled the match at 4-4. Sherwood then raised their game with a doubles win followed by D.Ahern, A.French and a captains performance by Colin French secured the match 4-8.Premier 3Of the 4 matches in Prem 3 no less than 3 ended up as 6 all draws. This gave Hubble Bar the perfect opportunity to sneak a point clear of Carlton Catholic Club at the top with a steady 9-3 win at home to the Lady Bay. Hubble Bar took a 6-0 lead in this one, but it took wins from A.Marriott, A.Lee and S.Chester to get over the line.Report by John Brinkworth
CITY LEISURE POOL LEAGUE - TC HEADSTOCKS STILL UP FOR THIRD PLACE FINISH AFTER BEATING MOULDERS!Wednesday 18th Feb I Speak (Q Adelaide) beat defending singles champion J Camara (Col Burnaby) 4-2 in a best of 7 final to take the singles title. Well done both players. TC Headstock took a great 6-2 win over the Moulders, keeping the TC Headstock in a strong 4th place position and still in contention for third place, M Johnson (TC) & J Webster (TC) set the ball rolling putting Headstock 20- up, pairs duo J Sanders & D Harrison made it 3-0, Moulders captain A Rutter took a win in the fourth leg to make it 3-1, but captain of Headstock S Larvin also showed his experience and sealed a point at 4-1, he then paired up with J Webster (TC) in the sixth leg and secured the 3 points by taking another win making it 5-1, J Sanders (TC) also won in the seventh leg to take it to 6-1, Moulders showed great spirit and G Gent won the last leg to finish the match at 6-2. The big clash of the top two teams also gave a great write up this week, Col Burnaby were at home against the Queen Adelaide, M Hudson (CB) made it 1-0, but Queen Adelaide made it level through G Clarke at 1-1. On form pairs duo T Giles & D Hudson (CB) made it 2-1, but Adelaide showed strength and evened at 2-2 through newly crowned singles champion I Speak, Burnaby put their noses back in front in the 5th leg with L Hudson making it 3-2. L Hudson then paired up with B Clarke and won to secure a point for the Col Burnaby at 4-2, captain L Ford (QA) took a win in the 7th leg making it 4-3, and in an "all to play for" match former Addy captain R McMath secured a win in the last leg to finish the match at 4-4, still nothing separating these two teams. Spot On also took 3 points this week with a 6-2 win against the Gladstone. C Whyler (GL) took the first win to make it 1-0, but T Merquis (SO) levelled it up at 1-1. Report continued over page -

with five matches left the threat isn't just narrowed to the top two as both Victory Club A and Jolly secure wins this week and are determined to chase those top two slots. Vic Club A totally whitewashed the Chequers all stars 7-0 and really increased their chances at the top with a staggering increase to their leg difference. Jolly have a game advantage and face Vic A next match in what could decide the fate between these two titans. Losses from both division B's Jag and Cricks A leave the Hillside with a chance of snatching the rug from under the league leaders as the took out Cricks A 4-3. With only two matches to go the crucial face off comes next match as the Jag, on home slate, take on the Cricks A in a vital promotion zone decider. What an incredible turnaround yet again in division C as all the top three league leaders loose in situations that could very easily alter the promotion zone. Biggest defeat was the Riverside who went heavily down to the Red Cow who actually secured there second match victory of the season with a 6-1 win, well done guys. However all is not lost as, with only two matches to play, both Nook and Pelican are still sitting tight at the top. Or are they? More next week. Report by Paul G Lacey

Likewise in the other quarters both Darren Lowe and Dean Nixon won and now face each other on the same date at the Star, Beeston. CALVERON & ARNOLD DISTRICT POOL LEAGUE - NEW SEASON PREDICTIONS BEGIN!The new season starts on Tuesday 24th February with fourteen teams in two divisions, all chasing the ultimate dream of Calverton & Arnold Pool glory. Here we take a look at the respective teams and their chances of success.Division OneBalfour Club – Alan Gregory has handed over the leadership reigns of the newly promoted team to Glen Dyer probably more in fear of the stiff task that faces the Arnold minnows this season. They have managed to add numbers to their squad and can now boast nearly as many players as Harvey the Hamster in his heyday, however only time will tell whether they have added the necessary quality. Odds 25/1.Cherry Tree A – The Calverton boys go into the season as second favourites but whilst they clearly have some quality within their ranks, they often flatter to deceive, having never won the league title in it's thirty year history. Many respected pundits have recently called for a change in leadership after yet another potless season and they may well get their way if OJ Taylor again fails to bring home silverware this term. Odds 9/2.

However (Incidentally reminding me that Stacy Burton hit a 180 max too face the might of the Charlton in two weeks time. they still have to watch their backs as Nuthall are starting to the other week too, well done gal) Despite the Birchover Birchover go up to third on the back of the Boats' demise by sharpen their darts and their playing eye as they too took a being a game in hand the Boat & Horses still take the top slot beating Pelican 7-2. Division B's Nook lose out to the Fezz in fantastic 7-0 win from the Earl Howe. As the Nuthall square on leg difference. Chequers take advantage of the Pelican's a close 5-4 defeat leaving Chequers in with a more than even off to the Park at the end of March they will be looking to win BYE week and move up to third place after yet another chance being a game in hand over the Nook, despite everything between now and then. Wow, what a climax victory on their climb back up the table, this time with a 5-2 Chequers loss to Boat & Horses B. Chequers big chance looming towards the finale of a brilliant seasnagainst Jaguar. The Chequers are at home next week to comes on their next match as Nook take their BYE week. This second loss on the trot for season and what a way to do it, with an 8-1 victory over the and Madhouse are still stoking the fires after also taking wins Birchover should be a sharp warning to the top teams, it's a Nags, well done guys. with Nuthall pulling up their leg average in a brilliant 6-1 quicker way down than it is up. If both win next week it Gals. at the moment saw the Pride come out victorious with a very will be one heck of a showdown to look forward to. However, MEN'S: Division A's Charlton Arms are really turning the close, down to the wire, 4-3 victory over Clifton Bridge leaving division B tells a different story as, with four matches to go, heat up as they cut a swathing attack through the league in a the Ponda gals planted into second place. Cambridge too the top three all had wins this week and show no sign of giving

With only five or six matches left the slot and none of these teams will be showing any mercy as the battle runners' up slot is so close that its still anybody's chance at the title finale commences with both Catchems and Querneby still having to so far. But are the Queens going to falter? We'll find out more next face General, who incidentally have the upper advantage of being a week. Nottingham Panthers 5Newcastle Vipers 2Four unanswered third period goals saw the GMB Panthers come from behind against the Vipers. Marc Levers scored the only goal of the first period putting away his own rebound on the powerplay but sloppy play allowed Vipers to score two unanswered second period goals to take the lead. A change of game plan, a shortening of the bench and four goals with no reply sealed the points in an excellent third period from the home side. Mark Richardson equalised early doors in the last period on the powerplay, Jade Galbraith shelved the go-ahead goal in the 52nd minute, Johan Molin blasted home on the powerplay to double the lead and the best was saved until last when a three-on-one break out saw a cheeky fake by Kevin Bergin to set up Brendan Cook at 55.30. Coach Corey Neilson praised the versatility of his squad afterwards saying: "We've got guys who can adjust both in the positions I ask them to play and in the way we ask them to play. We can handle whatever style the
opposition throw at us and the third period showed that tonight." Elsewhere Basingstoke's woes continued, losing at home to Manchester (2-5), Coventry won in Edinburgh (3-6) and Cardiff won at Hull (1-7).
Sunday's games in the bmibaby Elite League saw Coventry come from behind to beat Edinburgh (6-2) while Newcastle beat Belfast (6-3). Not so much joy for Nottingham this week!
RAGING BULL PROMOTIONSMike Tyson’!Encouraged to box from a very young age by his father, Daz rather surprisingly has never had an amateur contest. Instead he went into boxing seriously at the age of 37 after a chance meeting with promoter John Ashton. Daz was a guest of John's at a boxing event in London and after watching a Heavyweight win his fight Daz told John, 'I'd beat that guy!' After that John decided to give Daz a trial and soon recognised his potential. Eurosport's Steve Holdsworth commented that Daz has 'One of the hardest punches’ he's ever seen after defeating yet another opponent. Daz, a real knockout specialist beat his first opponent in 50 second and his second in just 20 seconds! BM: Hows the training going in preparation for the fight and what sort of training do you do? Yeah it's all going well. I've had a couple of injuries including a ripped calf but I'm back to full fitness. I do mostly boxing training, running and maybe one weight training session a week. The guys at Trinity Gym in Ilkeston are great. BM: Most satisfying moment in Boxing? Winning the title against Dave ClarkFavourite Sport after Boxing? 'Fishing, I love it, nice and relaxing'BM: Toughest Opponent? My 3rd fight was very tough encounter. The guy I was supposed to be fighting dropped out at the last minute and in came a 6”5 black guy who looked like Frank Bruno and has a record of 10 fights, 10 wins all by way of knockout! In the first round he knocked hell out of me and I'm sure a number of people thought I was in real trouble. I managed to weather the storm and in the second caught him with a left hook that sent him through the ropes! He got back up and was virtually rolled back into the ring. He made it to the bell and then in the third I knocked him down again. He kept coming back for more though and in the end it was a real battle that I won I points… he was a very tough guy.BM: Ever been beaten? Nope, never been knocked down or knocked out.BM: Do you get nervous prior to the fights? Yeah of course, I don't think your human

INTERVIEW WITH DAZ DAVIS
Trailing 16-3 at the break the Blues touched down three times to secure the win and put a bit of distance between them and their opponents in the league table. In the last five minutes I was thinking 'God, we're going to be on the end of a close win for once'," said double try scorer Bill Twelvetrees after the game. They scored through a missed tackle and a knock-on by one of our boys but we knew we could still come back into it. "We came out in the second half, kept hold of the ball and put the pressure on them. We showed what we've been doing all year by getting quick ball and using it. The forwards were awesome and it was a great second half. “We've got some tough games but we are a part-time side and we are easily up there with the big teams in this league. We'll now look forward to the final seven games of the season." Early on it seemed that it wasn't going to be a very happy afternoon for the Blues as Nottingham looked to dominate possession and territory from the start. Tim Taylor had the chance to
give the visitors the lead in the first minute with a penalty attempt just outside the Blues 22 but the fly-half fluffed his kick in splendid style. That said Nottingham went straight on the attack and by the eighth minute they scored the games' first try. A Blues lineout was stolen and
Taylor put up a high-hanging kick which Bedford simply didn't deal with. The ball was recycled to Northampton loanee Neil Starling who brushed aside challenges before offloading to David Jackson who touched down but Taylor couldn't convert. Taylor finally found his kicking boots in the 11th minute with a well struck penalty after James Pritchard killed the ball. Twelvetrees had a chance to get the Blues on the score sheet but his penalty effort from 35 metres didn't have the direction. That miss then led to Nottingham extending their lead as they made their way down the slope into Bedford's 22. A scrum went Nottingham's way and their powerful forwards saw the ball over with Danny Montagu getting the try but Taylor couldn't convert. Another Nottingham penalty was converted by Taylor but in the final seconds Luke Sheriff was sin-binned for killing the ball and James Pritchard converted the three points. Bedford came flying out of the blocks in the second half and scored two lovely tries. Twelvetrees crossed the whitewash three minutes in when he linked up well with James Cannon and Brendan Burke following excellent rucking from Phil Boulton, Marco Cecere, Dan Richmond and Samoan bulldozer Paul Tupai. Five minutes later Harries deservedly got on the scoresheet after the pack turned over a Nottingham ruck and Dickson went on a dazzling run before feeding the ball up the line through Vass and Twelvetrees to the young Welshman. Neither try was converted but it was game on at 13-16. Bedford continued to keep Nottingham at bay and Twelvetrees levelled the scores with a 73rd minute penalty which he walloped through the uprights. Bedford had momentum and looked for the winning score which came on the stroke of full time and it was Twelvetrees who scored it. Bedford's pack were awesome recycling the ball deep in Nottingham's 22 and Nick Walshe directed traffic perfectly. Mouritz Botha, Ben Pienaar, Sam Walsh and Gregor Gillanders all came close, but as a ruck formed close to the posts, it was Twelvetrees who dived over before converting.
