There are churches which will not allow a visiting missionary to speak unless a church recommendation can be shown. Since it is impos sible for any one person to know all Christians in the world, this recommendation by a respon sible New Testament church is a vital help in persuading others of your worthiness and the value of your mission. Mission Services stands ready to help you inform HORIZONS readers about your church recommendations. Since the church is sending you to the mission field (Acts 13:1-3) and will help provide the necessary needs on the field, naturally the church should share the credit in your missionary ministry. We first learned about El Paso Christian College this past Spring.

The college was in the final months of its first year of existance.

We wrote to Brother Bill Morgan, academic dean, for further partic

ulars. As a result of an amount of correspondance , we made

a trip to El Paso from Boise for a meeting with the College

planning Committee meeting on May 25th. We were very much im -

pressed with the program, and oportunities, and subsequentlymade plans to move to El Paso.

The purpose of El Paso Christian College is, like others , to

train young people for full time Christian service. In addition

to this, since it is located on the U.S. - Mexico border , it hasa unique opportunity in offering a specialized service tomissionary-minded students, or missionary recruits in its

M.A.P. (missionary action program)the student not only takesregular class-room work, but has the privilege of working withveteran missionaries on the field, in Juarez,Mexico (just minutesaway) or deeper into the interior of Mexico. Thus he learns, experiences, and observes first hand, somethings of the nature of foreign missions.we are excited about this program and feel that It offers a

valuable opportunity , we are most happy to be associated withit. The possibilities for evangelism in Mexico at this time aretremendous. People are hungry for , and-are turning to theNew Testament Gospel message.

Since the College is just a year old it is actually a missionaryendeavor. It is necessary for the faculty members to raise

their support. Thus , we have been engaged in this , throughthe summer months.

I will be teaching in the fields of New Testament, Christian Education, Speech and Music. The latter will be my main emphasisas the College grows and the student body increases •

Dear Christian Friends:

We greet you from "deep in the heart of Texas",busyI College started yesterday.

We are very happy and surely

We have not felt the cultural shock some do when coming here. Actually we Amer»icans are the minority in El Paso. Possibly having lived on the desert beforeand also having been in contact with the Mexicans ha.8 prevented this in our livestWe are gratefulI

€:•We arrivecL^afely in El Pasds^June 22nd ^J^ot possession of our house and movediLnto iS^une" 26th.

Prior to ovoc arrival, and enroute here from Boise, we stopped in Rangely, Colorado, on June 9th and had a wonderful fellowship ^th the folk there. That afternoon we journeyed on to Denver where we were in D.V.B.S. at the Bear Valley"iristian Church as missionary speakers. This was a real joy and privilege,fe hold a veiy special place in our hearts for this church as we shared in its

beginning and were chartjsr>.inam^e3??,^ for six years before moving^, to Boi^e. WhileDenver, we were aK t^ mSFSffloSous" contacts on behalf of our woiSc^ and

also, presented our program at the Westminster Church. We then journeyed on toEl Paso and began the seemingly endless, laborious task of getting settled inour homeI

We thank God for providing a home we saw absolutely no way to buyl We did notwant to get an apartment as they were terribly expensive, and it would mean another move vflien we found a home. Through the help of the North Industry Chris-ftian Church home church) and friends, the earnest money was met;then a second mortgage was prionvidM by a real estate broker we do not even laiowllSeveral weeks were spent getting settled, painting, etc. and then we went toNorth Industry, Ohio, (near Canton) for a D.V.B.S. there. The children respondedwell to our presentation, and enthusiastically learned "Jesus Loves He" as Jenytau^t it to them in Spanish. I still do not know it11 What a joy to visitfriends and relatives we had not seen in years. We were also privileged to present our program during the Bible School hour in North Industry, and again atthe East Sparta Church and Perry Chuzvh both Sunday evenings we were there. Weheaded back for the 1800 mile trip to El Paso August 12th and arrived safelyAugu^ 14th, tired and weaiy, but grateful for all our blessings!
