THEME: PEACE, TRUTH & AHIMSA When we use the terms Peace, Truth & Ahimsa, Mahatma Gandhi comes into our minds. He was and

will always be the symbol of Peace in the world and humanity. But after almost 64 years of Freedom,

after his death, is his message still prominent in the society. People in the 21st century also need

Gandhi, in everyday of their lives.

The best way to instill Gandhi’s message, is to start at the roots, with children. The youth of today are

the leaders of tomorrow. They are the ones who will shape the future.

AIESEC Balakalakaar offers a unique platform to empower today’s generation through expressions of

art in what is estimated, the biggest Art competition in the world for the underprivileged children.

Through their art, they will spread Gandhi’s message.

THE CONCEPT “Balakalakaar is an initiative taken up by AIESEC, in Hyderabad. Balakalakaar is by far the world’s largest painting workshop ever held for underprivileged children, across the entire globe. “

This event is aligned to the cause of building an environment that helps improve the quality of life that is faced by the underprivileged children in our city. It is the creation of an opportunity to help them discover and develop their potential in art forms of various types.

It was started in 2005 with just about 150 children from an NGO, and over the years, has impacted more than 10,000 underprivileged children across the city. This year, it turns 8 years and is engaging 2500 underprivileged children in art. The event is packed with performances and workshops, and possibly a fun empowering time for these children.

The paintings after the event, will be auctioned off, and the funds raised would be used back in the education of these children.
