INGREDIENTS FOR THE PASTRY -- 2 cups chopped walnuts, almonds, pistachios, or combination of them -- 1/3 cup sugar -- 1 tsp ground cinnamon -- 16 oz. package of phyllo (also spelled filo) dough, thawed if frozen -- 1 cup butter, melted FOR THE SYRUP -- 1 cup water -- 1 tsp vanilla -- 1 cup sugar -- 2 1/2 Tbsp lemon juice -- 1/2 cup honey DIRECTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 350º F. 2. Grease a 9x13 pan. 3. Mix nuts, sugar and cinnamon in bowl. 4. Place one sheet of phyllo dough on the bottom of the pan. Coat with layer of melted butter with pastry brush. Place another sheet of phyllo, again brushing it with butter. Keep remaining phyllo covered with damp paper towel to keep from drying out. 5. Sprinkle even layer of nut mixture on phyllo. 6. Layer two sheets of phyllo on top of nut mixture layer, lightly brushing each with melted butter. 7. Repeat, alternating layer of nuts with layer of two sheets of butter- brushed phyllo. 8. Once nut mixture is finished, place layer of 8 (or so) sheets of phyllo LEVEL
