Description :The models ST106E, ST112E andST 124E are a totally new line of BakerSurge and DC Hipot Testers . These newsets take advantage of state of the artdesign capabilities to provide a powerfulbut simple to operate instrument . Theyare lighter in weight than earlier modelsand include improvements such as anautomatic ranging DC Hipot overcurrenttrip. They display both DC Hipot outputvoltage and leakage current on the

scope . These sets may be used to testAC stators, DC armatures and fieldcoils, sychronous motors andgenerators as well as a wide variety ofcoils and windings. Application :The models ST1 06E, ST112E andST124E may be used either in the motorrepair shop to test windings before andafter repair or in the field as a predictivemaintenance tool . Since the sets aresmaller and lighter than previousmodels, they may be taken more easilyto the field for testing large motors inplace. For 24KV operation, the modelST124PP power supply uses themeasuring circuit in the model ST112E .This combination may be used to test13.2KV 10,000 horsepower motors .
PredictiveMaintenance ToolThe Baker High Voltage SurgeComparison Testers have been widelyused as a predictive maintenance tool .Formerly, ground insulationmeasurements using the meg=o-meterand DC/AC high potential were the onlytests performed on motors. A majority ofmotor failures start with turn-to-turnshorts . Since high voltage surgecomparison testing is the only effectivemethod of detecting these problems,surge testing is increasing in popularity .By combining both surge comparisontesting and DC high potential testing inone instrument, the Baker instrumentsprovide a complete electrical testingtool .
