SRVUSD Homework Policy

· In an effort to reduce student stress and respond to the evolving instructional practices, SRVUSD convened a committee of teachers, students, parents and school administrators to recommend updates to SRVUSD homework policy and regulation. The committee considered and made changes related to:

· Limiting the overall volume of homework and eliminating homework over breaks;

· Developing a more effective system for communicating and implementing the policy; and aligning with the Common Core State Standards and other legal requirements.

New Common Core Report CardNew Common Core Report CardThis year all schools will be using a brand new Common Core State Standards report card. The subjects and content your students will be assessed on are aligned to support the achievement of these standards.

Students will now be assessed using a 1 – 3 grading rubric, with a “3” signifying a student who consistently demonstrated at standard work.

You will be hearing more from our school throughout this trimester regarding our new Common Core Report Card.

VANPOOL 2015!All vans picking up LO students will need to park in the Kindergarten lot in front of the Growing Room and Kindergarten classrooms.  They are to park in the “designated vanpool lane”. Students will be dismissed onto the blacktop and proceed to the vanpool area. Staff on duty will help students find their van. This procedure alleviates the congestion up at the main carpool area.

· SRVUSD is implementing a new system for all adults who wish to volunteer on a school campus or drive/chaperone day and overnight field trips and athletic events. This new Volunteer Management System features a web-based software application that allows the District and all schools to better track and provide the appropriate level of clearance for school volunteers.

· ALL adult volunteers will need to go through this new process. The District will NOT be asking parents to incur any of the costs associated with these clearance processes. For more information, and to begin the application process, go to http://www.srvusd.net/parents/volunteers
