5 RULES FOR SUCCESS

1. Come to school prepared and ready to work. This means to bring needed materials daily to school (ex: paper,

pencil, correcting pen, highlighter, binder, math workbook, and school agenda). Bring completed homework each

day. Keep your binder, papers, and agenda organized.

2. Be respectful of yourself, your teachers, and your peers. This means to stay seated and be quiet when the

teacher is teaching a lesson, and be a courteous listener to your peers when they have been called upon to speak.

Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself . Speak positively of yourself and others. Have your cell phone turned

off and kept in your backpack.

3. Show you are responsible by taking care of the classroom and the school. This means to clean up af ter

yourself in the classroom and out at break and lunch (ex: clean table top and floor of any trash before you leave an

area; whether it is in the classroom, the computer lab, the library, or out at the lunch tables). Keep gum at home.

4. Be cooperative. This means to begin your work when asked to, and stay f ocused on the task at hand in the

classroom. Listen to and f ollow directions. Work quietly among your peers. Help your table by sharing information

when needed.

5. Be safe. This means to look f orward when walking in the classroom and around campus. Keep your backpack down

low or on your back (do not swing it around). Stand on the ground (do not climb on the planters or walls). Be

observant of your surroundings, and make sure to report any suspicious person or activity to your teacher,

supervisor, and/ or administration.

We believe that clear communication between the teachers, the student, and the parents is the only way to make f or a

positive and successful school experience. We will use our school website to post assignments, testing dates, and events (in

the ‘class calendar’ section). We will also use our emails; so please f eel f ree to send us messages. The electronic grading

program (ABI ), will also be a tool that will be updated regularly. Parents and students may use the ABI to check the

progress of their child’s grades and missing assignments. Feel f ree to phone us, email us, or write us a note. Whichever way

you choose to communicate with us is fi ne; it is our desire to have inf ormed and involved parents.
