On behalf of the Harrison Ranch CDD:
• Next Meeting will be held on Monday December 10, 2018 at 1:30 pm in the Clubhouse
• Staff is currently reviewing all of the swale concerns within the community and gathering
proposals to address the drainage concerns.
• Sport Court Lighting to be Discussed on Next Month’s Agenda
• Board to review sub-contractor agreements at December 10th meeting.
On behalf of Access Management:
You may have noticed there’s been some changes around the club house lately. Your manager
Barbara McEvoy has decided to take another position in the area recently. We at Access would
like to thank Barbara for all her hard work and wish her nothing but the best in her future
endeavors. We are currently interviewing for a new manager and hope to have someone in place
very soon.
In the interim, any communication and or question can be sent to my attention
via [email protected]. Until a permanent manager is in place we will provide club-
house coverage from either myself or one of our other managers, including Sandi Noto who has
been there already this week.
Another community news we had our annual and budget meeting on Monday evening and the
2019 budget was passed. You will be receiving payment coupons before the first of the year to
make your annual payment. We also elected your Board of Directors who are: Tom Benton,
John Dinaro, Carol Heid, William Klemish, and Dale Pascoe. Congratulations to the new board
members and we thank you very much for your contribution to the community!
Best regards,
Dave Walter, LCAM

Happy Holiday Season, Harrison Ranch!
My first month with you all has been absolutely incredible and I am so excited for the many
years ahead building relationships with the community. Thank you to those of you who have
quickly become familiar faces around the clubhouse, you have made my transition so much
smoother.
December is starting off strong with Music on the Lawn with Lacey Jane. Pack your picnic bas-
kets and blankets and enjoy a relaxing afternoon taking place on Sunday, December 2nd.
Friday the 7th is our Over 50’s Holiday Potluck. Please see the flyer for details on what to bring.
The event I am most excited for this month is Breakfast with Santa on Saturday morning, De-
cember 8th. I have prepared an amazing breakfast menu for everyone and of course, the holly
jolly Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in attendance.
The following weekend, we have a full weekend of Holiday festivities:
Thursday, December 13th we are having a Holiday Cookie Exchange and Ugly Sweater Contest!
Friday the 14th will be our Tree Lighting. The Martin Duo will be singing some Christmas Car-
ols and we will have Frozen Hot Chocolate for everyone to enjoy.
Saturday the 15th is the Polar Express Pajama Party! We will start the evening with a Grinch
Candy Cane Hunt then settle in with our pillows and blankets and watch my personal Holiday
favorite, The Polar Express.
For all of the busy parents out there, we are having a Gift Wrapping Party on Wednesday, De-
cember 19th. Bring a bottle of wine and your wrapping paper and get all of your gifts wrapped
without any nosey nellies sneaking around.
As December begins, I want to invite everyone to please participate in the activities that I work
so hard on. Attendance has been low, and it is usually the same few people showing up. I would
love feedback as to why there isn’t more engagement from the rest of the community. If you
have any comments or suggestions, my door is always open.
See you around the clubhouse,
Samantha

Twas the Night Before Christmas
Click here to return to cover page
‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads. And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer.
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick. More rapid than eagles in coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
“Now Dasher! Now, Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! On, Cupid! On, Donner and Blitzen! To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew, With the sleigh full of Toys, and St. Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around, Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed in all fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot. A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.
His eyes — how they twinkled! His dimples how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath. He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly!
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf, And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And he filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk. And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him explain, ‘ere he drove out of sight, “Happy Christmas to all, and to all a Good Night!”

Random Acts of Neighboring
“We have some really good neighbors. I could give you several stories from the past, but I have a recent one too. Over time our mailbox had lost all but two of the screws holding it onto the cross beam. I was out one afternoon a couple weeks ago
trying to get out one of the screws to take to Home Depot to look for replacements. Our neighbor across the street saw what I was doing and said he had screws that he could use to fix it. He was on his way to a meeting, but offered to fix it the next
day. I came home the next evening to check the mail and the box was all securely fastened.
One of the older stories is especially touching if you need other examples. Several years ago when my sister was living here by herself, she was going through intense chemo treatment for breast cancer. She was extremely weak and sick for several
months. She managed to get her trash and recycle containers out to the curb, but one of the neighbors consistently put her emptied containers up by the garage every week. Sometimes the mail would show up at her door also. For someone so sick,
it was a huge kindness.”
“We received this very nice homemade fall decoration from our neighbor.”
“I brought up neighbors trash and recycling bins while they’re working. I’ll continue to do so because it’s the right thing to do.”

Slice the bread horizontally and vertically to create 1 inch cubes, being careful not to actually slice all the way
through the bread.
In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons butter, the pecans and brown sugar. Use your hands to mix the butter into the
pecans to create a crumble. Take the remaining 2 tablespoons butter and insert thin slices into the loaf of bread.
Place the loaf on a baking sheet and stuff the brie inside the bread, filling in all the spaces in between the cuts. Add
the cranberries and pecans. Transfer to the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the brie is melted and gooey.
Serve immediately.

Yes, this is totally happening right now and I am so exited about it! It’s true what they say, sometimes the simplest things are the best, and this bread is simply the best.
