It offers specialisations in: • chemical engineering • civil and structural engineering • electrical and electronics engineering • mechanical engineering The first year of study is common to all specialisations, providing you with a broad engineering foundation. The technical and professional skills relevant for your chosen specialisation are mostly taught in the second and third years. The final year consists of a design project, higher level units and a research thesis. This offers the integrated learning necessary to develop your research and design skills and to become a professional engineer. All specialisations have been developed in consultation with employers and professional engineers. Innovative teaching methods will give you experience with state-of-the-art engineering techniques. You will also be exposed to industry and business through site visits, guest lectures by practising engineers and work experience. This means you will graduate with engineering knowledge which is relevant to current practice.
