AN OVERVIEW OF ESL
The Department of ESL offers the study of economic and social aspects ofagriculture, resources, and environment as well as its impact on society as awhole. The department was established under The Faculty of Economics andManagement, IPB to answer the global need for sustainable development, aswell as in line with the increasing of government, society, and businesscommunity awareness on the importance of sustainability of resource andenvironment.
The major competency requires students to have the capability of knowledgeand skills to apply theoretical concepts and the ability to formulate policiesin agricultural, resource, and environmental economic sectors, as well ash a v e t h e r e s p o n s i b i l i t y i n t h e p o l i c i e s f o r m u l a t i n g .Agricultural, Resource and Environmental Economics is a study programthat concerns with the issues,techniques, and principles of naturalresources, environmental policies, and agricultural development in widerscopes.

Several Scholarships offered to the students Are Beasiswa PeningkatanPrestasi Akademik (PPA), Bantuan Belajar Mahasiswa (BBM),Beasiswa Djarum Bakti Pendidikan, Beasiswa Robo Bank,BeasiswaUtusan Daerah (BUD), Beasiswa Tanoto Foundation, Beasiswa YayasanGoodwill International and others.
Graduate of the ESL study program are able to work in different fieldsrelated to the competencies, i.e.:
■ Government: the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Ministry of Agriculture, and Ministry of Fisheries, BAPPENAS, research institution (LIPI), local government, etc.■ Private institution and companies related tot he economics, agriculture, resource and environment, such as mining company, banking and financial services, media anchor, national and international NGO, etc■ Lecture, researcher, and consultant■ Managed own business, such as in tourism work-field
There are 33 full time and qualified academic staffs that support the studyprogram at Dept of ESL with 28,57 % hold PhD degree (10,71 % as Professor),17,86 % are PhD candidates, and 71,43% hold Master’s degree. Theacademic staffs are competent to conduct teaching and learning activities asindicate by their education qualification i.e. at least held Master Degree (theminimum degree requirement according to the standard of DirectorateGeneral of Higher Education, Ministry of Education) in their expertise, i.e.agricultural economics, resource economics and environmental economics.
Facilities in supporting academic activities include lecturer working room,office or the department’ secretariat, academic service room, lecture hall,meeting room, seminar and discussion room, reading room, studentassociation secretariat, toilet and kitchen. Besides, other facilities arebicycle with special lane, in-campus bus, clinic, computer laboratory,large lecture class (halls) with capacity reach 250 students, and seminarrooms with 60 and 120 Students capacity, Libraries managed at the levelof university, faculty and department
