Our culture is highly sexualized and in many cases pornography use is glorified. But research shows thatpornography use actually changes how the viewer thinks.
This January, Abstinence Clearinghouse released a new booklet: The Truth About Pornography. The booklet explains the effects pornography has on the brain and relationships. It also teaches individuals how to: .......................................................•• IIddeennttiiffyy ttrriiggggeerrss tthhaatt mmaayy lleeaadd ttoo vviieewwiinngg

Pete & Helen Soodsma.....................................
It’s hard to find two individuals more committed to Alpha Center’s work than Pete and Helen Soodsma. thousands of hours both in the counseling rooms seeing clients and volunteering behind the scenes.
Encouraged by her pastor’s wife, Helen began counseling at the Alpha Center in the spring of 1988. Traveling 60 milesinto Sioux Falls almost every Monday, Pete would drop his wife off at the Alpha Center to meet with clients while he
helped with various handyman projects at the Omega Maternity Home. It was often on those drives home after a long day of counseling that her father, Jim Heynen, would
call to check in. Jim was equally invested in the Alpha Centerand volunteered his professional talents putting in flooring at the various locations. Helen volunteered as a counselor
for 18 years and started taking the hotline on nights, weekends and holidays over 20 years ago. HHeelleenn ssttiillll vvoolluunntteeeerrss ttaakkiinngg tthhee hhoottlliinnee ttooddaayy. A deep friendship
with the Unruhs was formed and the couples often played practical jokes on each other to alleviate some of the
