Please have a safe Thanksgiving weekend. As you celebrate this week, please take the time to count your blessings and see what God has done for you. I promise you will be surprised. “Serving Christ begins with listening to Him.” This is our Thought for the Week as published in the Upper Room Devotional by Monica Wood of South Africa. During this busy time of the year, please take the time to quiet your heart so you may hear His words of love and guidance for your life. Please take a little time of inactivity to listen and learn from Him. Isn’t that what our main purpose as His follower is? Last Saturday night, I attended the Hillville Community Center Thanksgiving Dinner at the M Club. There was great food, great entertainment and lots of great fellowship. Beulahland entertained us with some great gospel music. A special thank you to the committee who gets this event together each year. Harmony Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant UMC and Good Hope MB Church will unite Wednesday, November 24 at 7 p.m. at Harmony Baptist Church for a community Thanksgiving program. There will be a special recognition of the Cancer Survivors at this program. So if you are a Cancer Survivor, please make plans to come out for this event. This is a very touching program. Hope to see you there. Snacks will be provided following the service. Also, don’t forget Saturday, November 27, there will be a Chili Cook off at the South Hatchie Fire Department at 6 p.m. There is an entry fee. Deadline to enter is Tuesday, November 23. Chili must be at the Fire Department by 5 p.m. Following the competition there will be a chili dinner. For more information please contact, Nancy Hendrix at 772-0966, Karen at 901- 490-9799 or Susan at 772- 3746. Happy Belated Anniversary to Randy and Sue Goodman who celebrated 40 years November 14 and to Bubba and Lillie Goodman who celebrated 49 years November 17. We wish both couples many more years of happiness and togetherness. Happy birthday wishes this week to Barbara Hayes, Tommy Hardister, Holly Austin and Allison Rogers. A special birthday wish to my daughter, Krystle who turns 24 November 27. Whew, I am getting old. Those to be lifted in prayer this week are Lillie Goodman, Sandra Goodman, Herbert Hayes, Kathy Watson Doering, Barbara and Boyce Wilson, Carol Wilson, Leah Scallions, Prentice Elrod, Bobby Hayes, Peggy Lewis, Luther and Edna Austin, Enid Powell, Kate Jordan, Darlene Rossen, Fletcher Lewis, Dorothy Bruce, Earline Benard, Shirley Morgan, Kirk Boullion, Carol and Jordan Bruce, Frances Elrod, The Military, The Nation and the Community. Sympathy is extended to the families of Mr. John Foster, Mrs. Doris Land, Mr. Walter Duffy and Mr. Frank Young in the loss of their loved ones. Jones Holly Gro ve News I don’t know where I read this, but it’s worth reflecting on – The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called failure, a loop called confusion, speed bumps called friends, red lights called enemies and caution lights called family! You will have flats called jobs, but if you have a spare called determination, an engine called perseverance, insurance called faith, a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called “Success.” We live in one of the most heathernistic and pleasure seeking societies of all times, but we must remember that God is always in control, and we need to allow Him to lead us through this life. The Community Thanksgiving Service for Zion and Holly Grove Baptist churches, East Haywood Church of God and Providence Methodist will be held at Zion Tuesday, November 23. Happy birthday to Sandra Peace, Colton Hayes, Sabrina Saveh, Tyler Glover, Danny Murphy, Vondia White, Shelby Hendrix, Ben Elinor, Marjorie Roberts, Marilyn Pearson and Candace Harrell. Happy anniversary to Mike and Jane Hopper. We express our heartfelt sympathy to Brother Frank Kemper and family in the death of his wife Liz Kemper. Liz was a precious lady, but struggled a long time with health problems. Remember Frank in your prayers. The children, ages 6-11 at Holly Grove Church, had a fun time on a hayride recently. Their leaders and some parents accompanied them. The youth followed up the next night with a hayride and were accompanied by the youth director, Greg Baker, and other leaders. Thanks to James Lewis for pulling them with his tractor. Those on the sick list are Dale Brown Sinclair, who is to undergo surgery, Fletcher Lewis, Mae Simpson, Ruth Taylor, Danny Murphy, Elsie Lewis and Glenn White. Others to include are Albertine Booth McBride, Margaret Ann Fletcher, Sue Spencer, Jessie White, Carolyn Covington, Evelyn White and Janie Hight. I can’t remember having the toothache since I was a child, but it’s no fun at all, and I’m scheduled to have it removed. Lorie Jones joined Tammy Emison and a group of single adults in Bells recently for a progressive dinner. They ate a meal at one home and then dessert at another. Ricky Hopper was recently honored by his family with a birthday celebration and eating out at a Jackson restaurant. Wishing everyone a happy Thanksgiving! Life can get tough at times, but we have so many things to be thankful for in this great country. Crestview News We welcome Ms. Barbara Hoover to our facility and hope she will enjoy her stay with us. Thank you volunteers. We certainly appreciate all of our volunteers. This week we thank Christ Temple ladies, First Holiness Women Ministries, St. John’s Baptist Church, First Assembly of God Church ladies, United Pentecostal Church, Westside Church of Christ, Community Temple of the Living Church, Mrs. Mary Barkens, bingo ladies, Mrs. Jeannette Rogers, and Macedonia Baptist Church. Our sympathy goes to the family of Mr. Walter Duffey and Mr. Godrey Miller. They will truly be missed. Christmas is fast approaching. Volunteers already want to come out and visit our patients for Christmas. We want everyone to come, but if you would like to present a program, please give Donna, Activity Director, a call so she can put you on the calendar for December. Thank you! We thank Kenneth and Bettye Sargent for the Christmas cash donation they gave in memory of Sonny and Jessie Kendrick, Lorene Sargent, and Will Allen Parks for our patients’ Christmas. We appreciate their thoughtfulness. We had such a wonderful Thanksgiving luncheon at our facility Friday. Our dining rooms were filled with delicious food with turkey, dressing and all the trimmings. Many, many family members and friends were here visiting and enjoying this delicious meal with their loved ones. Our patients were so excited to see everyone. It was truly a wonderful day for everyone. Thank you to our dietary department for such a delicious meal. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone from the Hillville Community. Please have a safe Thanksgiving weekend. As you celebrate this week, please take the time to count your blessings and see what God has done for you. I promise you will be surprised.

Last Saturday night, I attended the Hillville Community Center Thanksgiving Dinner at the M Club. There was great food, great entertainment and lots of great fellowship.
