What is S.T.E.A.M.? "STEAM is an educational approach to learning that
uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as
access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.
The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in
experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration,
and work through the creative process. These are the innovators,
educators, leaders, and learners of the 21st century!"
Benton. Our entire school is involved in this process of providing students
with a monthly focus in the areas of science, technology, engineering, art
and mathematics. We believe that becoming S.T.E.A.M. certified will
help further prepare our students for the careers of the future. We
envision our students building websites, creating apps, designing new
technology, and functional artwork in the years to come.
How You Can Help
As we begin to have our school wide S.T.E.A.M. days, we may ask you to
contribute donations of materials or your time to assist us in providing
S.T.E.A.M. stations where students engage in science related activities.
In The News
Look for a news story on the DCSD website about Marbut's journey
toward S.T.E.A.M. certification in the coming weeks!
