2016 Binghamton Mets Game Notes Page 1 LAST TIME OUT: The B-Mets tallied ten hits but managed only two runs and were defeated by the Akron RubberDucks, 5-2, Saturday night at Canal Park. Robert Gsellman surrendered three runs on seven hits and struck out four in the loss. Derrik Gibson went 2-for-4 and Stefan Sabol was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a double. Binghamton lost for the 12 th time in its last 15 games. BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Casey Delgado will make his third start with the B-Mets. After allowing 11 hits in his Double-A debut on 5/10 in Reading, Delgado allowed only one unearned run on five hits in six innings last Sunday in Portland, en route to his first win as a B-Met. He was 4-0 with a 2.67 ERA in four starts with St. Lucie (High-A) before joining Binghamton. AKRON STARTER: RHP Michael Peoples will throw for the RubberDucks, representing the third time he has seen the B-Mets in 2016. Peoples is 0-1 with a 3.18 ERA in the two prior starts. He has the only loss by an Akron pitcher against Binghamton this season. Peoples allowed four runs, two earned, on nine hits in five innings on 5/6 in Binghamton. The game was called final in the bottom of the seventh due to rain and the B-Mets won 6-3. Peoples last pitched on Monday and earned a win over Hart- ford with seven innings of one-run ball. DOUBLE DIGIT KNOCKS: The B-Mets have re- corded ten hits in each of the first two games of the series, both Binghamton losses. For the season, Binghamton is now 9-4 when it manages at least ten hits. THE FINALE: Binghamton will look to avoid being swept for the third time this season on Sunday but it has already been guaranteed its fifth straight series loss. The B-Mets are 6-6 in series finales and beat Altoona 5-4 in their previous finale on Thurs- day, avoiding a sweep. CRAZY EIGHT HOLE: Stefan Sabol went 2-for-4 with two RBI on Saturday, his first multi-RBI game and his second two-hit game. Sabol has batted eighth in each of the past two games and is 3-for-8 with a run and two RBI. GOOD RIDDANCE: The B-Mets play their final game at Canal Park this season on Sunday and have lost six straight in Akron, dating back to last year. Binghamton last won in Akron on 6/28/15, a 3-1 victory. ON THE LEADERBOARD: Matt Oberste is tied for seventh in the Eastern League with a .288 batting average. Dominic Smith is fourth with 31 RBI and fifth with 44 hits. ROAD WARRIOR: Casey Delgado makes his third start on the road on Sunday after his four starts with St. Lucie (High-A) took place at home. Delgado spent 2013 with the Frontier Greys (Ind), a team that played its entire schedule on the road. NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets return home to begin a four-game series with the Richmond Fly- ing Squirrels, the first series of an eight-game homestand.
