24 | DIPLOMATA Az Olasz Köztársaság ünnepe Feast of the Italian Republic Olaszország június 2-án ünnepli a Köztársaság Napját. A 70 évvel ezelőtt tartott népszavazáson az ország állampolgárai a monarchia helyett a köztársaság államformát választották. Ez a nap, a „Festa della Repubblica” (az Olasz Köztársaság ünnepe), egyúttal Garibaldi- emléknap is: 1882-ben ugyanezen a napon hunyt el az olasz szabad- ságért és függetlenségért folytatott harc legnagyobb hőse: Giuseppe Garibaldi. Az olasz nemzet nagy fiának szobra megtalálható a Magyar Nemzeti Múzeum kertjében, ahogy Alessandro Monti, az olasz légió ezredesének a szobra is. A nemzeti ünnep alkalmából őexc. Maria Assunta Accili, az Olasz Köztársaság nagykövete fogadást adott az Olasz Kulturális Intézetben. A nagykövet asszony köszöntötte a nagy számban megjelent diplomatákat, a magyar politikai és társadalmi élet személyiségeit, az olasz kolónia tagjait. Az ünnep díszvendége – a magyar kormány képviseletében – Semjén Zsolt miniszterelnök-he- lyettes, az Olasz Köztársaság Érdemrend kitüntetettje beszédében méltatta az ünnepet és a két ország kiváló kapcsolatait. On the occasion of the national day H.E. Maria Assunta Accili, Ambassador of Italy to Hungary gave a reception at the Institute of Italian Culture. e Ambassador greeted the diplomats, the representa- tives of Hungarian political and social life and the members of the Italian colony who attended the event. In his speech the guest of honour representing the Hungarian government Zsolt Semjén, Deputy Prime Minister, receiver of the Order of the Italian Republic spoke highly of the celebration and the excellent relations of the two countries.
