Society of Women Engineers Chris
The Society of Women Engineers certificate of merit is presented to one junior
girl and one junior boy who has completed at least three years of math and
science courses with distinction.
The recipients are McKinley Shea and Emma Yocis
John Meeker Book Award
The John Meeker Book Award is given to a senior student who is planning on a career
in criminal justice or law and has an outstanding academic record.
The recipient is Leland Malloy
The Rensselaer Medal
The Rensselaer Medal is given to a junior who is an outstanding student who excels in
advanced math and science courses. Should this student enroll at Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute, they will receive a $25,000 per year merit scholarship which is guaranteed for
four years for a total of $100,000.

University of Rochester - Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award
Awarded to a junior student who excels in math and science. The winner is automatically
considered for the Bausch + Lomb Science Scholarship. Scholarship amounts range
from $10,000 to $20,000 per year for four years.

DAR Good Citizens Award Mary Jane Winne
This award, sponsored by the Trumbull-Porter Chapter, Daughters of the American
Revolution, is given to a student who possesses and demonstrates the qualities of a
Good Citizen: Dependability, Service, Leadership and Patriotism. The recipient
receives a DAR Good Citizen pin, certificate, and wallet recognition.

DAR Essay Contest
Each DAR Good Citizen selected by his/her high school was eligible to enter the DAR Good
Citizens Scholarship Essay Contest if he/she wished.

DAR Outstanding Student in American History Award
The Daughters of the American Revolution presents the DAR Outstanding Student of
American History Award to a senior student who possesses and demonstrates an
outstanding effort and accomplishment in the field of American History. The receiver
of this award will be given an award certificate and a small monetary gift.
The recipient is Ryan Rescsanski
University of Rochester - Frederick Douglas and Susan B. Anthony Alice
Award in Humanities and Social Sciences
Awarded to a junior for outstanding achievement in the humanities and/or social sciences.
The student must demonstrate: 1) Commitment to understanding and addressing difficult
social issues, 2) Leadership and dedication to community action, and 3) Strong grades and
rigorous courses taken in the humanities and social sciences. The winner is automatically
considered for a scholarship. Scholarship amounts range from $10,000 to $20,000 per year
for four years.

University of Rochester – Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology
Awarded to a junior with strong interest in innovation and/or information technology. This
student must demonstrate: 1) An high level of achievement in this area, 2) Exposure to new
technologies outside of school, such as pursuing serious work opportunities in local laboratories
or industry, and 3) Leading other students to new approaches to old problems, e.g. business
plans for fundraising, innovative community service; after school activities; and best uses of
internal communications tools such as chat and blogs.

Harvard Book Award
Awarded to a member of the junior class who, in the judgment of the faculty, combines
excellence in academics with significant achievements in extra-curricular activities.
The recipient is Mary Bibbey
Smith Book Award
Awarded to a junior girl who exemplifies the academic achievement, leadership
qualities, and concern for others that characterize the thousands of women who have
graduated from Smith College.
The recipient is Elizabeth Varnum
St Michael’s Book Award for Scholarship and Service
This award is given to recognize outstanding juniors who demonstrate a commitment
to volunteerism and leadership in their community service endeavors. This award
represents just one way in which St Michael’s College fulfills its mission to better the
human condition by honoring those who demonstrate the true spirit of volunteerism.
In addition, these students must be inductees of the National Honor Society. The
recipients are eligible for a scholarship ranging from $5,000 to full tuition.

Wells College 21st Century Leadership Award
This award is given to a junior girl who exemplifies a strong commitment to academics
and student leadership. Should this student enroll at Wells College, she will receive a
leadership scholarship worth a total of $40,000.

Cornell Book Award
Given to a member of the junior class who has an academic record indicating
potential for admittance to Cornell University and is a well-rounded person, with
community and/or extracurricular involvement.
The recipient is Matthew Pape
Rhode Island School of Design Book Award
RISD established its Annual Art Award in 1984. Each year a select number of
secondary schools with noteworthy programs in the visual arts are invited by the
Rhode Island School of Design president to nominate an accomplished artist from
the senior class to be recognized. The award is a book of special interest to aspiring
artists and designers. Several criteria in making this nomination were considered; the
student’s effort and achievement in the visual arts; the student’s overall academic
achievement; the student’s creativity and talent.
This year’s recipient is Molly Humphreys
Michael’s Jewelers Award
This award is given to a junior boy and a junior girl who combine academic excellence
with a commitment to the school and community.
The recipients are Michael Kastilahn and Leah McCluskey
John Philip Sousa Band Award Amy
This award recognizes superior musicianship, dependability, loyalty, and cooperation.
The recipient is Greer Hanley
National School Choral Award
This award is given in recognition of singular merit, ability, and achievement, of outstanding
contributions to the success of the school vocal program, and of an unusual degree of loyalty,
cooperation, and high qualities of conduct.

United States Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award Alice
This award is presented to a senior distinguished scholar who is an exemplary young
citizen and role model for other students. The student is being recognized for
academic achievement and leadership as a high school scholar.

United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award
This award is presented to a student who is an exemplary young citizen, a role model
for other students and best exhibits the personal traits of courage, poise, self-confidence
and leadership.

CIAC Scholar Athlete Award
The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) Scholar-Athlete
Program annually recognizes two high school seniors - one boy and one girl - whose
academic and athletic careers have been exemplary, whose personal standards and
achievements are a model to others, and who possess high levels of integrity, self-
discipline and courage.

Governor’s Scholar Semi-Finalist
The Connecticut Association of Schools proudly presents this Governor’s Scholar Semi-Finalist

This award is granted to students based on community service and service to others,
academic prowess and leadership service to the school community.

school career. They are model students and contribute to our school community in
