61. Britain awarded IndoBritish van driver Dee Patel with Pride of Britain Award for risking his life to save others.
62. British director Ken Loach's film I, Daniel Blake won Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival. It was Loach's second award for best
picture at the festival after 2006's The Wind That Shakes the Barley.
63. British mathematician Andrew Wiles won prestigious 2016 Abel Prize. He was selected by Norwegian Academy of Sciences and
Letters for solving a centuries old hypothesis (equation), Fermats Last Theorem.
64. CSIR announced Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology 2015 for 11 scientists. The Prize consists a citation, a
plaque and a 5 lakh rupees. Awardees Are Balasubramanian Gopal, Rajeev Kumar Varshney, D Srinivasa Reddy, Pradyut Ghosh,

65. Canadian novelist Margaret Atwood chosen for 2016 Pen Pinter Prize.
66. Captain Radhika Menon (India) became first woman in world to receive Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea from International
Maritime Organisation (IMO). She was chosen by 116th session of IMO Council meeting held in London for displaying great
courage in leading the difficult rescue operation in the Bay of Bengal in June 2015. She rescued all seven fishermen from fishing
boat Durgamma, which was adrift following engine failure.
67. Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) signed two unilateral Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs) with two MultiNational
Companies which includes the first APA with a “rollback” provision.
CBDT has so far signed 14 APAs of which 13 are unilateral APAs and one is a bilateral APA.
Unilateral APAs are agreed between Indian taxpayers and CBDT without involvement of tax authorities of country where the
associated enterprise is based.
Bilateral APAs include agreements between tax authorities of the two countries.
APA with rollback provision extends tax certainty for nine financial years as against five years in APAs without rollback.
APAs are meant to settle transfer prices and methods of setting prices of international transactions in advance. Government
promotes having large number of APAs to foster tax cooperation and certainty.

(Bundesverdienstkreuz) Award.
69. Cookbook author and food blogger Nimi Sunilkumar won Gourmand World Cookbook Award 201516, for her cookbook “4
oclock Temptations of Kerala”. It was chosen for award in the ‘Best Indian Cuisine Cookbook section.
Gourmand World Cookbook Award is known as Oscar award in field of cookery. This is the only international award in this
field.
