We are delighted to be holding the awards in the middle of what

is set to be a great year for the £2 billion video sector.

With the inspiring ingenuity on show each year and with the countless support

from our sponsors, the 2016 Awards are set to be a great opportunity for our

industry to celebrate all the hard work dedicated to getting video not only into

people’s hearts and homes, but onto their multiple devices too.

The UK audio-visual sector operates in an environment of rapid technological change, driving new and exciting opportunities. Within that, it is the role of British Video Association to support its members, nurturing a business environment that enables video’s significant contribution to our cultural and economic life to flourish and to grow consumer engagement across the multiple devices and formatson which they can own and enjoyvideo content.

In 2014, the home entertainment category was the largest sector of transactional consumer spend in the UK, driving revenues in excess of £2.2 billion and investing circa £50 million in advertising media, with a further c£200 million investment in advertising media coming from the Theatrical side of the sector.

“British creativity is highly marketable, award-winning and sought after. Our creative industries that draw on it are among the most influential and successful in the world, contributing £71.4 billion per year to the UK economy.”

Viscount Younger of Leckie Minister for Intellectual Property

Video entertainment is the single most valuable part of the UK’s audiovisual sector, providing content to suit every taste, age and lifestyle.

Video entertainment is distributed on physical and digital formats, from DVD, Blu-ray Discs and 3D Blu-ray Discs to digital TV-based and web-based internet services, available to rent or to own for viewing at home or on the move via the ever growing range of portable devices. Around6,000 titles are released each year in the UK.

The BVA Awards recognise and honour the best in class across all aspects of the marketing and promotion of the video category.

Now in its 36th year, the BVA Awards is and always has been the biggest and most prestigious annual event in the industry calendar attracting over 1,000 people to celebrate their achievements and have an amazing night out.

Guests attending gather from all sectors of the industry - the distributors who release the product, the retailers who sell the product, the supply chain companies that distribute the product, the PR and marketing agencies that help bring the product to the attention of the Great British public and a host of representatives from theatrical, exhibition, games, music & publishing.

Presented on the night are 20 awards including several for the top retailers and those that recognise successes in marketing and creativity of entertainment on physical & digital formats.
