Definition of the low cost airlines

• A low-cost carrier or low-cost airline (also known as a no-frills or discount carrier or airline) is an airline that offers generally low fares in exchange for eliminating many traditional passenger services. The concept originated in the United States in 1990s and much of the rest of the world. The term originated within the airline industry referring to airlines with a lower operating cost structure than their competitors.

Parts of an Aircraft

Page 17: Aviation assignment ppt ABRAR

Parts of the aircraft• Cockpit :The part of the aircraft that houses

the pilot (s) and the aircraft’s control• Fuselage: Central body portion of a plane

designed to carry fuel, passengers, freight &mail .The part of the aircraft, which streamlined, and the wings and tails are attached to it.

• Wings: The parts of the plane that provide lift &support the weight of the plane, its passenger, crew, cargo while the plane is in flight

Page 18: Aviation assignment ppt ABRAR

Parts of the aircraft• Flaps: The movable portion of the wings

closest to the fuselage. These are control surfaces installed on the trailing edge of a wing and used to increase the amount of lift generated by the wing at slower speeds. flaps also have the effect of slowing an aircraft during its landing approach

• Slats: special surfaces attached to or actually part of the leading edge of the wing. During the take off and landing, they are extended to produce extra lift

Page 19: Aviation assignment ppt ABRAR

Medical emergency

• At the time of medical emergency I will ask for help by passenger address system and I will announce as

• “Attention ladies and gentleman we need medical assistance any qualified registered medical practitioner please identify yourself to nearest cabin crew”

Aviation terms• Bank: The turning of an aircraft to its left

or right with the help of slats and flaps • Bay: A defused area of parking a single

aircraft • Bulk head: Partitions or walls in the

fuselage to make compartments for different purposes

• Cabin: The portion of enclosed airplane intended for transporting passengers or freight

Page 22: Aviation assignment ppt ABRAR

Aviation terms• Emergency exits: Doors and windows

used specially in case of emergency• Leading edge :The foremost edge of

the aerofoil/wing• Trailing edge: The rearmost edge of

the aerofoil/wing• Ground power unit (GPU): Used to

provide onboard electrical aircraft power on the ground only

Cockpit

Page 25: Aviation assignment ppt ABRAR

Cockpit• The part of the aircraft that houses the

pilot and the aircrafts controls• A cockpit or flight deck is the area,

usually near the front of an aircraft, from which a pilot controls the aircraft. Most modern cockpits are enclosed, except on some small aircraft, and cockpits on large airliners are also physically separated from the cabin .from the cockpit an aircraft is controlled on the ground and in the air

Page 26: Aviation assignment ppt ABRAR

Cockpit• The cockpit of an aircraft contains flight

instruments on an instrument panel, and the controls which enable the pilot to fly an aircraft .

• In most airliners, a door separates the cockpit from the passenger compartment

• On an airliner the cockpit is usually referred to as flight deck

Page 27: Aviation assignment ppt ABRAR

CARGO

Page 28: Aviation assignment ppt ABRAR

Cargo• Air cargo is commonly known as freight.

There are many firms which collect cargo• eventually manufacturers started

designing aircraft for freight as well. • There are many commercial aircraft

suitable for carrying cargo• Loading containers known as ULDs.• Air transport is a vital component of many

international logistics essential to managing and controlling the flow of goods energy information and other resources like product services and people from the source of production to the marketplace

Demonstrate the correct procedure for embarking &disembarking on board handling of any 1 special passenger paper document should be submitted • Un accompanied minor• A passenger who is below the age of 18 & traveling alone is classified as unaccompanied minor (unm)

Page 35: Aviation assignment ppt ABRAR

Procedure for embarking and disembarking of unm

• This passenger is boarded first and deplaned last

• The ground staff hands over the minor to the crew who is in charge of the section where unm is seated

• emergency procedures such as fastening of seat belt, usage of oxygen mask is told to unm

• The location of galley, toilet &crew seat is shown to unm

• Crew gives toys, books to unm to keep them occupied

Page 36: Aviation assignment ppt ABRAR

Paper and documents should be submitted• The airline take the detail of unm and who is

Comparison between A-300& A-380

A-300• The A-300 is one of Airbus Industries earliest

long-haul aircraft. • Launched in 1972 • It is a two-engine, two-aisle, single passenger

decked aircraft, which carries around 260 people in a two class configuration

• which carries around 260 people in a two class configuration

• It has a maximum range of 6670km

Page 46: Aviation assignment ppt ABRAR

Advantages & disadvantages of A-300

Advantages DisadvantagesAll glass cockpit Old model Structure made from metal reduced weight

Produces more sound in fuselage

Electrically controlled braking system

Carries less fuel

Consumes more fuel

Page 47: Aviation assignment ppt ABRAR

A-380

• A380 has only just entered service• The A-380 is Airbus' newest long-haul

passenger jet • It is a four engine, four-aisle, double

passenger deck aircraft, • It carries 644 passengers in two classes, or

up to 853 passengers if the entire aircraft is Economy class

• It can fly much further than the A-300 (about 15,200km

Page 48: Aviation assignment ppt ABRAR

Advantages & disadvantages of A-380

Advantages DisadvantagesCarries more passengers

Its more pressurized

Four engines four aisle

Very long body more chances of damaging

Its more faster than older

Carries more risk

Carries more fuel&Consumes less fuel

Page 49: Aviation assignment ppt ABRAR

My opinion on comparison of A-300&

A-380• As A-300 is phased out • A-380 is the new technology • So every one is planning to try it • It has 4 four engines • It flies more faster than A-300 • It carries more passengers • A-389 is best now
