THEME The GrinchTAGS Ceramic, DinnerPlate, HeartBox, StockingDish,TheGrinch
1. Trace the image onto plate. Tape it down along the top to make sure it does not shift during tracing process, but still can be lifted up to check tracing results.
2. Wipe the piece down with a damp sponge to remove ceramic dust.
3. Use a sea sponge to sponge the rim as shown in the sample photo.
4. Follow the traced outlines to color in The Grinch and his dog Max with green # 8. Apply 2 - 3 coats using a small round brush and a detail brush as needed.
1. Wipe down the heart box and lid with damp sponge to remove bisque dust.
2. Fold the template along the center line and carefully cut out the outer heart. Then cut out the smallest heart from the middle. Unfold the big paper heart to see a small heart window in the middle.
3. Place this paper shape over the lid and trace the small heart shape onto bisque with a pen. Hold the paper down with one hand while tracing with the other. Keep the paper shape near by for later use.
4. Apply 3 coats of red # 98 inside of the small heart shape using a small round brush. Make sure to let paint dry between the coats. While the lid is drying, you can work on the bottom part of the box.
5. Paint inside of the bottom part of the box solid red. Apply 3 coats of # 98 using a medium flat brush. While the paint is drying, continue to work on the lid.
6. Paint the rest of the heart box solid green. Apply 3 coats of # 29. Use a medium flat brush. Let dry.
7. Place the heart paper template over the small red heart and trace the outer heart shape-with a pen. Try not to scratch the paint by pressing too hard.
8. Fold the heart paper template and cut it down to the next heart size. Trace the outer edges and repeat until all heart sizes are traced onto green background of the lid.
9. Paint short white dashes along the traced hearts using a writer bottle filled with # 67.Do not rush. Paint one dash at a time and rotate the piece as you go around.
Note: If you make a mistake with the writer bottle, wait for the paint to set, and remove unwanted parts before the paint hardens completely.
1. Use an air can duster to remove ceramic dust. If using a damp sponge, make sure to let bisque dry completely before using masking tape.
2. Cut out the shape of the stocking and use it to mark along the edges of the dish where the lines should begin and end.
3. Use 1/4” masking tape to separate the top section from the rest. Then use 3/16” masking tape to add crossing diagonal lines as shown in the template.
4. Paint over the top section with blue # 35. Apply 3 coats. Remove tape and blow away any color dust. Let dry.
5. Mask the red triangles using 1/4” tape. Apply 3 coats of # 98. Remove tape. Let dry.
6. Mask the top section and add needed tape to form the light green triangles. Apply 3 coats of # 27. Remove tape and let dry.
7. Continue masking and painting remaining medium and dark green triangles. See the sample image and template for color positioning.
8. The heel and the toe portions of the stocking have stitching raised from the bisque. Ignore the hill and paint over it, but follow the toe line and use it as separation between colors. No need to use masking tape on that curve. Fee hand it.
Note: Treat the edges of the dish with appropriate colors continuing the design over the edge. Once dry, use sand paper or sanding block to clean up the way paint stops on the outer part of the dish.
