AVAYA ONE-X COMMUNICATOR
Avaya one-X Communicator enables you to log into the CM server remotely using your computer to make and
receive telephone calls from your telephone extension. It allows you access to the following telephone features:
Make calls
Make conference calls
Use contacts
Use bridge conferencing
Access voicemail
LOGGING IN
To log into the server, double click the Avaya one-
X Communicator icon
Once the Login window appears, enter your
extension and password
Click Log On
ACCOUNT SETUP
Access the Menu Settings
Under Menu Settings > View, check the Show Line
Display option to allow you to see the Active Call
information
Complete the following under “General Settings”
Telephony:
Using – check the H.323 button
Extension – enter your 6 digit extension number
Password – enter the password of your desk phone 2580
Server – enter the IP address of your server (Contact your Administrator for this information)
Messaging: Check the Enable Message Access box Check the Dial this number button Enter the VM access number 149999 in the text box
Outgoing Calls: Under “Place and receive calls using”, select This Computer Do NOT check “Enable the Emergency Call Handling feature”
Dialing Rules: Complete the dialing rules Number to dial to access an outside line: 8 Your country code: 1 Your area/city code: Leave blank Number to dial for long distance calls: 1 Number to dial for international calls: 011 Extension length for internal extension calls: 6 Length of national phone numbers (including area/city
code: 10
Check the following box: Apply dialing rules for outgoing calls
Audio: On the Basic tab, from the drop down box for both the Microphone and Speaker options, check the appropriate device Test the volume option
Drag the Playback slider to control the volume for playback
Drag the Record slider to control the volume for the record
Check the Ring on incoming calls box Check the Ring additional device box
Preferences: Set the “Language for the interface” to English Check all remaining boxes Under the Contacts field > Display Name, select how you wish your contacts to be displayed
Desktop Integration: Check the Enable Avaya Collaboration Services box Under “Name Look-up”, check the following boxes: Microsoft Outlook Contacts Enable Name Look-up for incoming and
outgoing calls Minimum number of digits to match – 6 Public Directory
Under “Wipe-to-dial”, check the Enable wipe-to-dial (clipboard dialing) check box Click OK to complete and save your changes
Your Avaya one-X Communicator soft phone is now configured and ready to be used
Below is a view of the soft phone as it appears after it has been configured. See the item descriptions below.
There are some additional custom features that can be activated that will enhance the functionality and
appearance of your soft phone.
CONFIGURE THE CALL LOG AND DIAL PAD
Once you click the Call Log icon, you now see the
Call Log as shown to the right.
In order to see the Name/Number information in the Call Log as shown below, go to the Menu Settings and complete the following. Call Log: Check the Show Name and Number option
Once you click on the Dial Pad icon, you now see the dial pad and the feature buttons that have been assigned to your phone Your Avaya one-X Communicator soft phone is now configured and ready for use
CALL HANDLING FEATURES
MAKING CALLS
In the “Enter name and number”
field, enter the name or extension
number or phone number you wish
to call using the keyboard
Click the Place Call icon or press
Enter on your keyboard
To make a call using the mouse and
dial pad, click on the Place Call
icon and you will hear dial tone
Click on the Dial pad icon
Using your mouse, enter the
extension number or phone number
and once finished the call will begin
immediately
To redial the last number
completed, click the Redial icon
To call a contact, click on the
Contacts menu icon
Click on the contact to highlight it
and click the Call icon
To end a call, click the Hang Up
button
HOLDING CALLS
To hold an active call, click the Hold
button on the active call window
To resume the call, click the Unhold
button
TRANSFERRING CALLS
You can transfer a call using the Transfer option on the active call window or from the Contacts list or Call Log.
