My name is Autumn C. Posey. I am a graduate of Lubbock Christian University. After
having completed a graphic design internship at Action Printing, I received a B.A. in
Communication Design in December 2014. Prior to attending Lubbock Christian, I
took several classes at Western Texas College where I was named “Artist of the Year”
in 2012. In addition to digital design, I enjoy drawing and painting in my spare time.
Quick Print Christmas Cards
At my graphic design internship with Action Printing, I was tasked with designing several Christmas
cards based on prompts that included size, theme, color, and written content to appear on the front
and inside of the cards. These would be offered as custom quick prints for the 2014 holiday season.
For the one shown above, I was allowed black + one Pantone spot color, and the assigned theme
was “snowflake.” Left (front), right (inside).
Merry Christmas
Quick Print Christmas Cards
For this Christmas card I used a CMYK color model. The prompt for this one included a holly theme
and I was provided with several different images of holly, that my supervisor picked out, to use as
inspiration. Left (front), right (inside).
Quick Print Holiday Invitation
Another assignment I was given at my internship was to draw/design invitations for the Christmas
season with prompts similar to those given for the quick print greeting cards.
For the invitation above, I was asked to use a “cute, cartoon reindeer” and stripes on the
background. I created several variations of this design using different colors, including both two-color
and four-color designs, allowing for flexibility in production cost. The back featured the same stripes
used on the background of the front of each one.
Postcard
At the end of my internship with Action Printing, I had the opportunity to design a postcard advertising the
Christmas cards and invitations I had worked on throughout the semester. My supervisor provided me with a
rough draft of the text, and the size of the mailing panel, and told me I was free to make any changes to the text
content; the color and design choices were up to me. This was truly a rewarding project to bring so many other
things I had worked on into finality, and to be trusted with all the design decisions.
I used several gradients to produce the illusion of ribbons and provide depth to the illustration by making the
Christmas ornaments appear round. Top (front), bottom (back).
