Automotive Technology GOALS AND OBJECTIVES The Automotive Technology program is designed to prepare students for employment as automotive technicians and in numerous other related areas of the automotive and transportation industry. Training is given in both theory and practical skills. Directed practical work is given in all areas of automotive maintenance and repair under simulated on-the-job conditions. The sequence in which courses are taken may be modified to meet individual needs. At least 50% of all coursework must be completed at Cypress College. DEGREE Associate in Science in Automotive Technology Program Code: 1S14040 Combine the Automotive Technology Certificate with the General Education requirements outlined in the Cypress College Catalog to qualify for the Associate in Science Degree. *All students should begin with AT 105. It is recommended that students also take AT 110, and AT 115 or AT 111 if needed for Financial Aid. To earn an Associate’s Degree, students must complete: (1) all major course requirements with a “C” or better; (2) 25 units of General Education requirements; (3) the cultural diversity and reading requirements; (4) any elective courses to complete a minimum of 60 units; and (5) have a minimum GPA of 2.0.
